You forgot to add in Sam Reinhart, Ryan Johnson, Matias Samuelson, Dylan cozens, Casey middlestadt and this year's 2nd for mantha. Obviously this is overpayment, but since you inclined to under pay I figured I'd do the opposite for you.

This was a proposal from a realistic Detroit fan. Guaranteed 8 overall in a deep top 10 for a guy thats going to be nearing 30 by the time Detroit is relevant again. They can pick up Sanderson or Askarov alongside Perfetti, or Holtz, instead of trading for a first that could be mid to late round in 2 years. I dont see how this is an under pay at all. They also get a big body forward prospect back

Not a massive underpayment, but there is no guarantee that the 8OA pick is going to be anywhere near the NHL talent Mantha is. Wings would need a bit more to trade Mantha at this point.

If Yzerman was to move on from Mantha, what do you consider fair value from Buffalo? I’m going to emphasize the word fair in there since this is all hypothetical.

Would you do 8OA + 2nd + Tage?

Depends even on what position you pick too. Theirs also no guarantee Mantha doesnt come to Buffalo and either get hurt and miss a ton of games over the next 4 years or completely regress.

Take out Thompson he was awful in St. Louis, he's awful in Buffalo and he will be awful in Detroit. #8OA + Ryan Johnson + Johansson. I put in Johansson because Detroit needs a back up goalie and with Portillo and Luukkonen how much time in net will he really see. If it's to much take Johansson he isn't a deal breaker.

No to tage, guy is a career ahler. Realistic I want one of Ryan Johnson or Matias Samuelson 8th overall and buffalo 2nd, or I'm holding onto mantha. Would be willing to take back a bad contract on a 1-2 year deal only to help facilitate the trade

I was speaking hypothetically. If Detroit does trade Mantha to Buffalo what would it take. I doubt Buffalo trades that pick its Adams first season as a GM and if Mantha didn't work out he'd be done.

@Shibbal18
So I guess the consensus would be 8OA + Johnson + 2nd (since Johansson is in separate deal) per @aedoran and @buffbry for a fair deal to Buffalo.

I think if we moved mantha which i doubt we do, this seems fair to me

Another thing to consider would be that it frees 6-6.5M to pursue a short term FA or additional cap dumps for futures.

I think mantha gets a 7 year at 7-7.5 so even more money saved

I would prefer to do Johansson over the 2nd and nix the other deal
