It's not a bad deal for colorado, i don't think they have a big need for petry next year, and then resigning him. Even with graves going the other way they still have a full blue line with timmins and byram coming up

I think the value in the Avs trade is fine, but I'm wondering what Colorado would do with Petry. He's a good player, but they already have Makar, Johnson, and Timmins on the right side. The latter should be ready next season, and Johnson has value beyond what you see on paper (i.e. established leadership role). In theory Petry in and Johnson out makes Colorado better, but I just don't think it happens.

I also think Colorado might be more keen on Danault or Tatar than Drouin. Danault would be the guy I'd go after if I had my way. What would the Avs need to add in a Graves and Danault swap to get you interested?

IMO a 1st or a 2nd and a prospect, but I don't totally know Graves' value so I might be off.

Value feels fine in the Colorado trade, but it seems like a square-plug for round-hole kinda situation. Unless of course the plan is to keep Timmins in the AHL another year and move Johnson in 2021.

2020/21:

Girard -- Makar
Byram -- Johnson
Zadorov - Petry

2021/22:

Girard ---- Makar
Byram ---- Petry
Zadorov - Timmins

Overall it just feels like change for the sake of change, and rather unnecessary.

With no changes we have a pretty solid and natural transition set up as it is, and there's no need to complicate things.

Graves -- Makar
Girard -- Johnson
Byram -- Cole/Timmins
Zadorov

Thanks. Graves looks as though he's going to be pretty darn solid for quite a while, so I think that could be an overpay (especially if it's a first). I like Danault a lot though and think he'd be a great fit in Colorado, so I might be willing to overpay a bit. Graves and a 2021 second (Avs don't have one this year) is something I would definitely do. Or Graves, a third, and a decent prospect. Maybe even Graves and Kaut if Montreal also sends a pick back (can't want all those seconds this year, right?). A lot depends on if Danault would re-sign with the Avs though.

Fixed the Av's trade and removed the Vancouver and Buffalo trades and added Edmonton and Winnipeg trades

I think Kaut and Graves and we’ll send back our latest 2nd this year
