Why do people think that Mikheyev would sign the same contract as Pierre Engvall who is AHL 1st liner / NHL 4th liner?

Stop with these LA trades... We don't want Kerfoot and we don't want Johnsson.

Games played.
It tends to be a factor on young players.

Maybe because he was injured for 3 quarters of the season?

Why do you think he won't? He's had very little to show for his time here so far. To me he still has a lot to prove. He was solid under Babs, got injured and faded under Keefe. We still don't know what we have in him. I would agree with you if he didn't have the injury and continued his solid play, but that wasn't the case. This is basically a prove it contract.

That's fair. I just thought LA would like a couple of good middle 6 players that can score and are decent 2 way players.

Yeah, Mikheyev doesn't have a big case tbh.

Its a factor but he was probably the best forward on Leafs besides top-4 and Hyman.. so I dont think 1.5M is good enough contract for player of his qualities.

Half the season and outside that was probably leafs best forward outside big 4 and as good as Hyman..

He was good under Keefe once adjusted to new style. He was great, and I would LOVE if he signed that but I dont think thats good enough contract for his qualities.

Unfortunately he's got little leverage and the Leafs are cap strapped. So this would have to be a bridge deal.

Am I saying I want a longterm deal for him? No.. 3y just north of 2M AAV would be perfect.

3x2.25 is what I think would be fair. Contract similar to Engvall is just too little, but I hope he signs that because thats a steal for mid-6 two way guy..

So given the current cap situation, you are willing to give him 2M+ based on a little over 30 games? Lol

hes 25. 2 years bridges him straight to ufa. not to mention mikheyev was playing at an almost .6ppg pace where engvall was playing at a .4ppg pace. slightly less games but he also has KHL experience where engvall doesnt have too much of a resume.

Yes. He proved he is very good player and for 2.25-2.5M Im willing to bet he would be better than all three of Kerfoot, Johnsson or Kapanen and he was this year in games he played so.. I hope he signs that little contract because thats a robbery.

he matched the production he was having in the khl. you could easily assume since he was doing it over a 40 game sample he could replicate that again next year. The ONLY issue the leafs should be weary about is the wrist strength since the slice got some of the tendons.

replicated what he did in the khl over a 40 game period. he was projecting to be a 50point player.

That just shows how much of a better GM this poster would make than you. He wants to start negotiating low and you want to go straight for 2.25M+ based off of 30 games and a gut feeling......

He needs to do it over a long period of time. I think he's going to be good! But it's only 1/2 a season

again he did it against men in the khl if the leafs came to him with this offer he could get double that to go play in the khl lol. The leafs have to compete with the KHL for his services. I 100% could see him going back if the leafs low balled him like this.
