honestly last year Dubas should have done the rumored trade of (Brown + Kapenan) for Pesce and Wallark. Would have been great as we would have had cap space, a solid 3c and the lines would have looked like

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander
Johnsson-Wallmark-Mikeyev
Clifford-Spezza-Engvall

As for the Dcore Dubas would have moved Zaitsev for ceci in a 1 for 1 or if required sends a prospect like Duzak over.

Probably more realistically, Lebrun heard from someone who never was apart of the conversation and is grasping at straws to fill the air and keep people interested.

That isn’t something that Toronto ever had a chance at doing. So yes the fact that it was a trade rumor and that Toronto had a chance at that deal is made up. That is Lebrun trying to keep Hockey’s biggest fan base talking and clicking through his stuff.
