Whats the value on TJ. I've seen some people packaging as high as a 2nd round pick to get rid of him and other wanting mid round picks back for him.

I like the idea of bringing in Johnson to Detroit. I know it won't happen since he won't waive his no trade clause though. We need a plug at 2C for a couple years and we could probably get him cheap because of Tampa's cap situation.

You may be right. But they could make other moves. I picked a western conf playoff team

Yes we did. I've just seen so much variety on what he's worth that I'm not sure what it would cost.

Vegas is cap strapped, Wings not taking on contracts for nothing, especially one for an aging vet with several years to go.

I hate to give multiple picks for an aging player but Johnson can still play and he'd be a good fit at that 2nd center for now.

At that price you almost have to say yes. I don't think TB is going to let him go that cheap. I'm also not sure he waives for Detroit, Johnson and Yzerman were in TB together but at 29yrs old I would be thinking more about a cup.

Ultimately, TJ won't be traded because who in their right mind would waive their no trade clause to be traded from one of the best teams in the league located in hot Florida to the worst team in the league located in cold Michigan.

Amazing part is you dropped 3 middle 6 forwards for nothing but picks and the remaining team is still a contender.....

Don't tempt me with Killorn for so cheap...Vegas can't fit him in though.

his stats are declining as his ice time declines. if get goes back to 16-17 minutes a night and pp time, his stats will go back up.

He likely won't be traded to Detroit, but there is a very solid chance he is moved this offseason. He isn't stupid, and he sees that Cirelli and others have begun to supplant him as a consistent top 6 C/W. If Brisebois makes it clear that next year is likely his last in Tampa, then Johnson could have much better control over where he goes now rather than having to give a 20 team list plus Seattle after next year. If Brisebois can work a trade with one of the few teams Johnson likely agrees to play for, Tampa could take less but it's a win win as Johnson gets a bigger role with a team he wants to play for and Tampa clears enough cap by moving him and then Killorn to keep the main 3 rfa's.

players are uber competitive. not just about winning, but about their own game. i think what you put above is correct, and if his agent is granted permission to speak to other teams, yzerman, who he likely trusts can pitch him on a plan where he plays top 6 minutes along with mantha, larkin, bertuzzi, zadina and #4 overall and pitch him on a turnaround.

He is also from washington, so seattle might interest him if detroit doesnt work out.
