This trade is unbelievably lopsided. No way they give up a future #2 center in Barzal, future top 4 D, and a #1 LW in Dal Colle for a first or second line RW in Atkinson.

I like Atkinson a lot but this is highway robbery if you think the Islanders are going to pay that sort of price for a 2nd line guy

I know just messing around. I don't think the Jackets would even trade Atkinson.

God awful trade but your comment makes me think you weren't actually "just fooling around" and you were actually trying to see if this was as fair value trade as you think it is in your head. Maybe you were, maybe you weren't. All i know is I'm telling you from a non biased perception Jacketsman61, although Atkinson has put up good numbers, he is NOT worth as much as you think he is. I'd take him on my team any day but wouldn't lose a 1st rounder for him. He will forever be a guy that will be worth more to Columbus than he is to other teams thus his perceived value will never be attained though trade.

F50marco Dude, it is a joke. Lighten up. Look I was just putting something out there. I would have made a description if it were something I actually cared about. Plus, I would defend it with logic if I cared. I agree Atkinson is a good player but not worth three blue chip prospects

atkunson has 103 G &100 A in 300 NHL games. If he played for any other team like Pittsburg or Tampa he would be worth the trade. Any player for CBJ is perceived not as high a value. Hartnell is a perfect example. Yes he is 34, but has 109 Points in last 2 yrs with Jackets. Worthy of a contract paying $4.75M, because he is Hartnell & he plays for the Jackets, nobody gives him the value he deserves.

Fair enough. It seemed semi serious so I was just skeptic but admitting it is very lopsided is all I wanted to see. I was just going on a hunch but if you say as you did, then my apologies bud.

See this is the bullsh*t that everyone has to deal with but CLB fans think it's only them. Atkinson is a stats based player similar to a player like Montreals David Desharnais. Both have put up very good numbers but that is attributed more to the players they play with then the actual player. I agree with you it isn't fair but I'm just telling you it is the reality we live in. Small players are judged differently then players who are of the average height and weight.

Funny enough Pittsburgh winning the cup has put more emphasis on speed and skill over size and strength which works to players like Atkinson and DD. All the same. They are worth less than players who actually score less but are bigger and tougher. That's just the way it is. Atkinson is better than DD, I'm not saying he isn't . But they do share the same stigma against them which isn't fair because they are both good players. Once again that's what Jarmo has to deal with.

Hartnell is a totally different scenario which CLB fans don't seem to understand. Once again I agree with you, he's still a good player. His problem is CLB. They have To move him. They need to get rid of players they have to protect in the expansion draft. The next thing is his NMC. So not only does CLB have to move him, they have to find a team that wants/needs/has space/has assets for him. Do you know how hard that makes this trade? Then You have to factor in that he is 34 with 3 years left at a pretty decent salary still.

Yes he's put up good numbers but those other factors scare GM's away unless they can get him for a good deal. Then you add the factor that GM's are ruthless and will force CLB to trade him at a loss because they know CLB has to or potentially lose somebody else off their roster in the expansion draft like a Karlsson. Which would be a waste.

Those are the reasons why 109 pt Hartnell won't fetch as much as you think he will. Not because he isn't a good player, because of his circumstance.

One thing you have to understand also is that people on this site try to steal players off other teams with their trades and think they can get away with it. Maybe the unknowledgable don't see it but most of us on here know when somebody is being a jerk.

One last thing, analyzing your favorite teams trades are hard because whether we like it or not, we as fans are biased to them. You got to take yourself out of the equation and see what people who have no stake sin the matter have to say about it. That's usually when you get a fair assessment.
