Description

Knowing the cap will be flat and not knowing how anyone will perform next year, it's a bit difficult to accurately predict salaries 14 months out. I left $2.5M in cap space to compensate.

Center depth for miles. I tried to create a defensive, hard minutes 3rd line to allow for a sheltered, easy minutes 4th line with a veteran center. I'm betting that Vegas doesn't have the cap to re-sign Stastny, but if they do and he decides to stay there to contend for the Cup I'm sure another veteran will be available - Eric Staal or Travis Zajac, for instance.

Lots to like here - Nudge and Yamo signings seem about right, and I like the idea of bringing in Saad - although I’d give him one less year at the same price point. I wouldn’t sign AA, though, as his hockey sense and defensive chops aren’t good enough for a top NHL team. If it were me, I’d use that money to resign Bear long term.

Yeah, I'd like to see Athanasiou get a year with Tippett to see what he's got, but if he can earn time next to McDavid has going to produce and get paid.

As for Bear, I figured Holland would sign him for 2 years this coming offseason, so what you see above is the tail end of that deal. He'll get term after 2021-22.
