That’s what I would float out there too to start a trade talks with them. See how they react bc the canucks roster build still is a bit weird and they have cap issues

Yeah I figure that Vancouver would definitely come to the table if we make Timmins available.

Timmins is exactly the sort of prospect they want, given that he's a young RHD with top-pairing/top 4 potential. In The Athletic yesterday Wheeler ranked Timmins as the 44th best prospect, making him the 7th highest rated drafted RHD prospect, so he has the pedigree to be the main piece in a Boeser trade. The fact that Timmins has had injury history balances the fact that Boeser has as well.

As the secondary piece it would make sense to include one of Donskoi or Compher, as Colorado will need to open up a roster spot at RW, and Vancouver will need to fill the hole in their middle 6 left by Boeser.

A 2020 1st is probably a must as well, but Colorado would likely want a pick coming back to offset some value, and give us a pick inside the top 80 to somewhat replace that 1st.

No it doesn't, don't be silly. Byram is the top drafted NHL prospect not yet in the league, and teams don't trade prospects like that... especially not for players who come with the injury history Boeser has.

No it doesn’t, canucks have little to no leverage with their cap
Situation and with Boeser injury history of missing significant time every season, canucks are not getting one of the top tier drafted prospects,

Big difference in avs wanting him (they don’t but will explore the trade bc he’s available)

The canucks made him available so they think they need to trade him. And as soon as that happens, they have put themselves in a position of weakness in trade talks

You want to trade this guy and you have a small window to do with a tight offseason and being in a bad cap situation, have fun holding out for a top tier guy like byram

Boeser is a top line forward, but he has a significant injury history, and D is a significantly more valuable position. Pretty much the only way to acquire a 1D these days is to draft one.

Timmins is a pretty substantial prospect to put on the table, and certainly gets a conversation started. There's no need for Newhook or Byram to be involved in this trade. And besides, Vancouver's biggest need is RHD as well, so Timmins makes the most sense from that perspective too.

They don’t yet have made him available...hmmmm I guess they are just doing that for Fun.

Or are they thinking this is the best move to trade him, solving their cap situation and not hurting their roster bc he will gain good assets, not leagues best prospects ones but good ones

He said they are open to trading him. That means he available for trade, as in he’s on the trade block.

And why would a team leak that they are open to trading him to the media, bc they Want a trade maker for him

If Vancouver manage to resign Toffoli it would be prudent to at least explore what value Boeser has, particularly as they have Podkolzin and Virtanen on the right as well. Moving Boeser can plug their hole at RHD and complete their roster in the short and long term. And also gets them out of Boeser's injury issues.

Sounds like Vancouver are putting feelers out through the media to gauge interest and value. While still maintaining plausible deniability that he's available so as to not weaken their bargaining position. That's at least what I would do if I were a GM and curious what I could get for a guy like Boeser.

I’m not saying it’s a lock for happening but these things don’t fabricate out of thin air. Avs and Barrie trade speculation was going on for 3+ seasons until it finally happened bc eventually they were forced to bc that can’t resign him and they needed a 2C

This could because they value markstrom more...or don’t think they can extend him again with a big raise with their cap sitch,

This is obviously not the point of this post but I don't think the Rangers give up a 4th for Kamenev. Just give one of our own guys a chance, or make it like, a 7th

I've suggested that trade, as well as Kamenev for Rykov, in previous AGM's, and have only seen positive comments about both ideas from Rangers fans. But yeah as you said it's more of a placeholder as it could be a mid-round pick from any team.

Would Canucks have any interest in Grubauer, or are you fully intent on resigning Markstrom? I figure that Grubauer could be a solid starter for Vancouver for a year, at only an $3.33m caphit.

How about something around Grubauer + Timmins for Boeser + ?

Maybe Avs could acquire the rights to Markstrom as we have more capspace to be able to resign him than Canucks do.

if they made him available then I woudnt mind checking in on Boesers price tag (even though they are probably asking for too much) but imo hes kinda overrated. Before this season he was averaging 66.1% oZS% at even strength in his career while producing 0.83P/GP (68 point pace over a full season) with shooting percentages of 16.0%, 16.2%, and 12.4% from 16-17 to 18-19. He was producing well but was almost exclusively being used on offense which boosted his point totals. Then this season his even strength oZS% dropped to 55.4% and his shooting percentage dropped to 9.5%. No wonder his point production dropped this season - he was finally being given a more balanced role (at least at even strength) as opposed to the pure offensive role he was used to before. One of the biggest red flags for me though is his PP time, which has increased every single season from 1:46, to 2:55, to 3:32, and now to 4:07 per game this season. Despite this much PP time this season (which by the way is the 3rd most per game in the league) his PPP/60 was 3.58 (which ranked 207th in the league among players who average over 1:00 PP time per game) . I should mention that VANs PP% ranked 4th in the league, so its not like he was stuck with no help on the PP either.

Burakovsky (20+25=45 in 58GP) actually had a very similar season to Boeser. Both had identical oZs% of 55.4% at even strength, and nearly identical offensive production (Burakovsky 20+25=45 in 58GP, Boeser 16+29=45 in 57GP). I do expect Burakovsky's S% to regress (just like Boeser's has) but when you consider that Boeser had over 3 mins more ice time per game, 1:44 of which came on the PP, I dont think there is a huge gap there.

Boeser is viewed as a 1st line winger but in reality he needs extremely offense-heavy usage as well as an inflated S% to produce those numbers. Once he was put in a more balanced role (which was still very offense heavy with his PP time) his offense regressed to that of a mid-high end 2nd line winger. If he was given PP time based on his production instead of based on his reputation I would expect his production to drop even more. On the Avs I would expect 2nd line even strength and 2nd unit PP usage which would drop both his overall toi and especially his PP toi. Even if his S% bounces back to around 12% I dont see how his production would reach what it has before if hes given less-sheltered minutes

if they made him available then I woudnt mind checking in on Boesers price tag (even though they are probably asking for too much) but imo hes kinda overrated.
