Stars say no. Heiskanen is part of their future on D.

Why not, get rid of some cap space and pick up a decent winger and an okay prospect.

I’ll say it AGAIN... Miro for Marner doesn’t work. Stars don’t have the cap space

Why would the leafs trade marner. He is one of the best playmakers in the league and he is only 23. Playmakers, especially ones of marners caliber are rare. In general Marner is the type of player 1st and 2nd line centers want and while Dubas would get a solid return leafs are not interested in moving him.

Marner is way too soft! Doesnt grind, doesnt hit, doesnt go into the dirty areas, and never drops the gloves to defend teamates... just floats around while Hyman and Matthews does all the work.

Marner is soft sure, but his playmaking abilities make up for it. He isnt meant to play in the dirty areas as thats Hymans Job and not every line needs 3 guys doing all the dirty work. Also, Marner should not be necessary for hitting either thats just silly, and defending teamates lul, barely any of the leafs do that. Why do u think Clifford was brought in. As for floating around, far from it, Marner is the one doing the majority of the work. Watch the Toronto vs. Carolina game on Dec 23. Marner was doing the majority of the work in that 3 goal comeback. In general his offensive and defensive skills are what make him such a valuable player for us and it would be foolish to move him.

In general it concerns me that u feel those are the reasons for trading him. Playmakers of Marners caliber are rare and star ceenters love those kinds of players. Sure marner does not hit or fight but thats okay. He plays hockey and creates plays for himself or his team to score. I would take that all day then make him become a player he was not meant to be.

Johnsson had a terrible year and Holland just traded for Athanasiou to fill a top-6 LW spot.

Johnsson played great and actually showed an even better possession game. His chemistry with nylander was great. Injuries was the problem. I mean the guy broke his leg diving in front of a shot... I’m not going to hold that against him.

In a perfect world I would sign a guy like Johnsson to a life time contract. But this is cap world. Johnsson is just. E of those perfect support cast players that fits well with Toronto and probably great with the oilers. A perfect mix of heart and skill. Where he fits with any type of pkayer.

Three goals at 5v5 this year despite playing over 75% of his time with Matthews is below replacement level.

Not interested in having to pay that player $3.4M to play on the third line. Edmonton already has James Neal at 3LW. It's a cap world and Edmonton doesn't have the space for another expensive bottom-6 winger.

Lol, hate if you want to I guess. He’s a solid player. Doesn’t mean he’s a perfect fit on every team though.

He's not an upgrade and cap is tight. What's so hard to understand?
