Plenty of reasons. They are re-signing him from what I know. They love his addition.

He served a purpose. Looking for a tough guy. With the cap staying flat I just don’t see it as a priority. Why give up a pick if you could get something similar in ufa or just stick with kappy. He seems to be picking up the slack in that department.

I would suspect that if Philadelphia was going to trade down, they'd want the #35 pick back as one of the 2nds.

I can't imagine the Kings would pay Dudas just to dump Grabner and move up a handful of draft spots. Dudas might be a long-shot, but he's not a throwaway. Same with Moverare. There's no real reason to include him in that trade.

I don't think the Kings can afford to make all 3 of those trades. They'd have to choose between the Arizona and Vancouver trades. With Sergachev coming in, I think they'd just pass on Hjalmarsson and sign a less expensive UFA or split time between Clague/MacDermid.

I would love for the Leafs to pass on Clifford so the Kings could bring him back. Swap Moore for Clifford's signing rights?
