So the Canucks are giving up Boeser, Hoglander, Stecher, and a 2nd for one year of Hamilton

I love it when there are pretend extensions added to somehow boost value. Hamilton is good but he has one year left on his deal. Whatever another team does is there own business. The most you will get is a conditional pick.

They boost value because the Canes are not dealing him otherwise. We're just fine with an own-rental if they can't agree to terms and the right player isn't offered.

We could just keep all our players and sign him one year later so ya it is just one year

You do realize that the only way that Benning can afford Hamilton is through a trade-and-sign, right? They're on the hook for a treasure trove of awful contracts AND have Pettersson up for a massive extension. Boeser, Hoglander, and Eriksson gives the Canes the necessary assets to make the deal worth it on our end and frees up the requisite space necessary for Vancouver to radically improve their defense.

Historically, no. I'm betting on a rebound.

meh, he's been trending downwards for a few years, I doubt he'll be as bad as he was last year, but he won't be good

Yet you're trading one terrible contract back to us and they don't need Hamilton you're the one that proposed the trade

Then Vancouver can just wait a year or sign someone else. I just find these imaginary contracts funny. If you want to make a deal with him just use his actual value. Without the elaborate story to explain why Vancouver isn’t being ripped off.

The Rangers aren't taking Eriksons contract. I don't think anyone is

Dude you do understand the whole reasoning of trading Brock Boeser is for cap relief correct? How in the world with a flat cap can the Canucks pay 3 players close to $10 million each Hamilton, Hughes and Pettersson.
