Because he's really bad defensively both even strength and on the kill

Don’t watch a lot of EdM games. Thought he was better

Toews was previously named a Selke Award Finalist....I disagree with him being on your list. Toews lets Patrick Kane be the scoring star and sacrifices some scoring to play a shutdown role on the first line.

56 hits, 35 shots blocked, 58 takeaways, and a 57% face off win percentage go a long way....

But this doesn't look like the 19/20 RedWings?

I'm surprised Scheif was the worst C defensively (EVD xGAR I'm assuming?) Ik he was bad, didn't think he'd be that bad lol, also thought Nurse would be better, iirc he broke even, or nearly so, must be better than I thought offensively lol

Toews had 2 good defensive years. He fell off a cliff after that

I’m pretty sure the two worst players in EVD are Kane 1st and Connor 2nd, Scheifs was around 7th worst I’m pretty sure in terms of forwards. Kinda sad that Patrik Laine was the best defensive forward on that line this year lol. No wonder that line would get shelled every game. What a difference a couple years make. Scheifs was prob a top 5 C in the 17-18 season. I really don’t know how he still has a 2.4 WAR this year, just shows how lethal he is offensively

Fell off a cliff from a Selke level is not the same as worst in the NHL.

Also where’s Risto? I’m pretty sure his EVD is bad enough to be on here.

You must be smarter than 3 veteran NHL coaches.

Over the past 3 years Nurse has played more minutes at 5v5 than any NHL player not named Drew Doughty. Meanwhile McDavid and Draisaitl are #2 and 3 among forwards respectively.

Clearly McLellan, Hitchcock and Tippett don't know as much as you.

Show me metrics that prove it. Because the ones I see put him in the middle of the pack.

rapm xGA/CA, xDef, xEVD, Def, EVD GAR. Anything that takes into account how good the player is at preventing the quality and quantity of chances pretty much.

LOL. You realize that every stats site calculates "expected goals" differently, right? And none of them actually have great correlation with actual goals? Don't tell me it's not subjective.

This one is just the worse players in xDef, but you see the same trends with any stat
