Buffalo doesn't like either player nearly that much

Agreed, just saying two players buffalo could use, just not at that price

I could see them interested in Boeser maybe a 2021 first top 10 protected or one of our Right shot D not named Jokihatju and 2020 2nd. I would be surprised if the Sabres had any interest at all in Demko

I don't think Ottawa bites on that offer.

That's what the price is gonna be. It certainly isn't gonna be Montour + Mittelstadt as I've seen on several Buffalo fans' posts.

The price obviously includes pieces that Buffalo wouldn't want to part from but that's what it takes to get top end talent. Boeser jumps in as the 2nd forward player on the Sabres after Eichel and he has team control when his contract expires. Let's not forget he's also 23 and still has a couple seasons of improvement.

A Sabres fan said they wanted Demko.

What you offered definitely isn't gonna cut it. Jokiharju is the starting piece in any Boeser trade.

For Boeser alone maybe Jokihariju + a top 10 protected 1st 2021.

At #8 overall you'd be lucky to get a player even close to how good Boeser is add to that there's about a 50% chance of that pick being a bust. I don't think this offer is unfair at all.

Boeser > Cirelli

What would you give? A 4th. I was debating between a 3rd and a 4th.

I just don't see Ottawa having real interest in either of those players.
Roussel is a left handed 30 points winger (on a good day) and has TWO seasons left at $3M per. Ottawa would be smarter to re-up Hawryluk who'd cost less, take a 1 year deal, and play a more aggressive bottom 6 style game. Or we could see what Formenton, or Abramov look like at a camp and give one of them that spot. There's also talk (depending on Norris and what pivot we draft at 3OA) of having a look at Logan Brown as a LW. There are just too many options to justify giving up a pick for a LW with that salary and that ceiling.
I'm not sure what Stecher's next contract will look like but I'd be shocked if it's under $2.6M per season. That's a lot for a Chris Wideman type guy. He's too small to defend his own net, doesn't hit, block shots, kill penalties or play on the PP. I just don't see the fit. I know Brännström wants to play the right side and OTT is currently stuck with Zaitsev, and they also went after Artem Zub pretty aggressively and are likely to have Lassi Tomson in North America next season. And there is always the option of a single year with an older UFA like Hainsey who they really liked having as an on-ice coach.

For the Sabres Boeser isn't > Cirelli. He is definitely a player that can help.but if they can still get drastically better next year without adding a winger from outside the organization. I would argue the Sabres would be more willing to offer more for Horvat then they would be for Boeser even if Boeser appears to be a slightly better player. All that being said if the Sabres were to move Jokiharju or 8 o/a in any deal that didn't include a 2C I would be shocked. I could see it maybe if we were talking about an elite play driving winger that can carry a line on their own. IE Johnny Hockey, Huberdeau, Marner, etc

Roussel is a cap dump but I think Stetcher could be a good piece on a 2 or 3 year deal.

I just don't see the fit and would rather find Hainsey type guys to pay for a single year of service than lock in another NON legit top 4 D man that blocks the kids.
It would be nice if we could score Drysdale with the 5th and just declare our D rebuild DONE with the eventual pairs of:
Chabot - Drysdale
Brannstrom - Bernard-Docker
Wolanin - Thomson

I don't mind getting Stetcher playing him with Chabot to boost his stats and then shipping him out for more.

As a Sabre fan I'd do this deal - Vancouver gets more upside and cap relief but also takes more risk while the Sabres get some immediate help scoring and maybe more consistent back-up goaltending - as for being lucky to get a player close to as good as Boeser with the 8oa in this draft I don't think that's true in this draft - Holtz, Rossi and Quinn- you'd probably only have one gone at 8 when you'd pick, and I think either Holtz or Quinn might eventually be in 70-80 pt range - and there is a reason Boeser is being floated out there (injuries , game may have leveled off, offense is good rest of his game is meh)
