Byfield is closer to 1 than 3, and Stutzle is closer to 6 than 2.

(Fun fact, Byfield had a higher age adjusted P/G than Laf, was also as effective as Laf was at the same age in the WJC... yeah he has the highest ceiling in the draft.)

Gotta disagree on the Stutzle being closer to 6 than 2... Many GMs have come out and said that Byfield and Stutzle are gonna probably be 2/3.

Lafreniere took a huge step this season. It's hard to say Byfield will take that big a step too.

I agree Byfield could be just as good as Lafreniere or be as low as the 6th best prospect in this draft. He's a higher risk/higher reward pick.

Personally I'm not sure who will go 2nd. Ottawa and LA are both lucky to have gotten to pick in the top 3.

Ha, you wish Kings would accept that. I want Kings to pick Stutzle.

Oh also the only players to have a higher age adj P1/GP since 1999 in the OHL (in their DY) are Patrick Kane and Connor McDavid. That's it. (Not to mention Byfield being a much more complete player, and is also 6'4" and is the best and most agile skater of anyone that size that young lol, yet he still manages to not abuse his size in juniors) his floor is like (public perception) of Mark Scheifele

From what I've seen and heard, he doesn't really have a complete game. Not to mention, being 6'4 in juniors is a massive benefit whether he fully utilizes his size or not. Saying his floor is Schiefele is a huge stretch, Scheif is one of the better all around Cs in the league and can score. If Byfield is even a little bit better than Scheif, thats a huge win for whoever picks him

I don't think you can say any 18 year old has a floor of Scheif (a top 20 centre in the league). So many different things can happen to a player to stunt their development.

Kings probably will draft Stutzle (though I think byfield is better)

But Ottawa absolutely loses that trade by a mile. The gap between byfield and Stutzle is very close. Ottawa will be more than happy to get a franchise #1C at 3rd overall and follow that up by drafting a franchise #1D at 5th overall with Drysdale

Trading 5th overall up for 2nd overall. Not the point of the post though.

He has a more complete game than Stutzle (who has the worst defensive game of anyone in my top 6 tbh) and while it is a benefit, when I say he doesn't abuse it, I think of a guy like Poulin who relies on his size and strength to be good in juniors, Byfield uses his edges and length which won't get shut down nearly as much whet transitioning to pro

Oh whoops, I messed up reading that. Even still, I don’t think Ottawa should trade up and I don’t think LA would trade down. Send have the chance to get a #1C and #1D in the same draft. Pittsburgh did that selecting Crosby and Letang (3rd round) and it worked out pretty well for them

Kings take Stutzle because he has the experience playing against grown men in his home country.

Stutzle is by far the better player.
He's the fastest player in the top of the draft by far.
You can't train that. He plays at a next level.

I think the Kings should draft Byfield. I think the Kings will draft Stutzle. Either way, they're getting an exceptional player, so I won't be upset either way.

My brain says Stutzle (his skating is just incredible, best skater in the draft and his playmaking is unreal as well) but my gut says they go with Byfield (every tool you want in a prospect plus he's one of the youngest players in the draft)

Button... he said 2 scouts had Byfield at like 6 and 8, and only 1 of the other 8 had Stutzle over Byfield, but bc those 2 had him so low Stutzle ended up higher
