Leafs are not trading the Goat as he is developing into good shut down center.

Nah teams will surely want him. 20-goal scorer with a reasonable cap hit for the next couple years. Luxury the Leafs can't afford but other teams would want him.

This trade makes no sense. There is no way the leafs get cap space by trading for then placing Kesler on LTIR this isnt how LTIR works. Teams only get upper limit cap relief if they are cap compliant then place a player on LTIR.

A 20 goal season in which he had an unsustainable shooting percentage (his first year was most likely his career year). This past year 3 (three) even strength goals in over 1/2 a season playing with one of the elite talents of the NHL. A flat cap year where about 20 other teams need to dump salary. Biggest asset is his speed, and is coming off a serious leg injury. 5 ft 10 winger who cannot win his share of puck battles in the corners and offers nothing in the physicality department. There is nothing reasonable about a 3.4 million cap hit for his current situation. Someone may be willing to give up a 4th or 5th round 2021 pick for him, but those few teams that can take on his cap hit will get better offers from other teams who are also looking to dump salary. He very well could prove to be 100% coming back from injury and his value would increase then, but Toronto needs to make space before next season starts, and unfortunately his value will be at it's lowest at that point in time.

Sharks will give you Washington or PITs 21 3rd for Johnson.
He’s a talented young player, good shot, good speed, with couture on his line I see him blossoming as he comes into his prime

Only reason to take Keslers ltir would be to reduce the cost on acquiring Manson. That is it... no other reason
