RNH trade that makes sense

Created by: Jacketsman61

Initial Creation Date: Aug. 28, 2016

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is even. RNH is right now a 2c. There is belief that he has the skills to be a 1c. Savard is a true top 4 defenseman. Also factor in he is a right handed shot, the gap is not that big to fill and really not worth a blue chip prospect. Calvert would make sense because it would give them a competent third line player to help fill out there roster.

You keep saying he's a second line center yet he automatically takes 1st line duties on your team. He's a number 1 on many teams but since McDavid came over he's being treated as second class which isn't fair. The kid is really good and people think just because he had a bad year on a perrennially bad team that he's somewhat less valauble. He still is. In all honesty remove the spare parts from the trade and their is a deal to be made. Remove Calvert, Goloubef and Lander. Change the 2nd rounder to a 1st or a former 1st round pick like Milano and you should get your deal. Otherwise, pass.

Really he and Wennberg are interchangeable. I just put him there because he is making 6 mil and should be trying to achieve his potential. You would have to agree Wennberg and RNH would be slotted above Dubi, right?

Doesn't make sense for the Oilers. Savard is a phenomenal piece coming back but the value just isn't there. The difference between RNH and Savard isn't Calvert and a 2nd.

The gap is not that big between Savard and RNH. Right shot defenseman who are top 4 defenseman are hard to find. With Draisaitl needing a new contract next summer, they will need to move someone in order to address the glaring weakness on Edmonton which is the defense. A blue chip prospect is not what Edmonton needs. They need to upgrade at RD, and improve the quality of the third and forth lines. This trade would accomplish that.

On the contrary, I think you overpaid for RNH. His possession numbers are questionable, and his face off % is low. In my mind, trading Savard for him straight up would be the deal, or Edm can throw in a pick too. Otherwise, wait another year for Wennberg to develop and the dust to settle on the expansion next year.
