Canuck fans are so quick to decline... you guys know that this isn't an attempt to fleece or anything? Burns is still -- especially with the rest he's getting and the injuries and heavy-minutes wear-and-tear healing up -- a freak of nature athletically/physically, and he's a hell of a player at least for 2-3 more seasons. His role's just redundant with SJ having EK65 long-term.

And SJ needs a young top-6 RW, and obviously a 1-for-1 with Burns wouldn't work, but the sweetener of taking on Loui Eriksson so VAN can retain Toffoli, Markstrom, Gaudette, etc. really, reaaaally should make this at the very least a better discussion than just "no" and "VAN decline". VAN fans suck lol

Everyone looks at age and instantly decline thinking burns is done, Burns will be just like Rob Blake Charra and Ray Bourque a d play Alastair level to 40 if he wants to.

That’s why I want to keep him and offer up Karlsson

This prolonged break is a godsend for Burns. Stupid SJ coaches have been playing him 25min a game for 5-6 years now, including all that time in the POs. You can take my word to the bank when I tell you Burns is coming back next year stronger than we've seen for the last few years starting next year at least for 2-3 seasons.

Not gunna lie, value might be fair but Canucks are definitely going to be targeting someone cheaper. More in the 4-5 million range as the return

See... this is a fair assessment. I can see this point of view from a Canuck perspective.

Burns is already overpaid and with 5 years left he is also terrible in his own end, you can try and spin it all you want nobody is gonna go near that contract. If you want Boeser it's gonna cost you a youngish RD on a decent contract.

VAN fans will all say no to this as it’s just not the right deal for the Canucks. They’re trying to shed salary and will look to get a cheaper, more defensive-minded Dman as they already have Hughes to run the PP. Having Burns’ 8m AAV on the books doesn’t help re-sign Petey and Hughes a year from now, and although i’d take Burns as a player right now, I don’t think his contract is going to age well in next few years.

If your GM is married to this idea like you are, then I hope you enjoy seeing Toffoli and Markstrom in different uniforms as VAN stays a mediocre team for the next few years only because you love Loui Eriksson's contract so much.

I was more referring to brocklesnar. Ive seen your posts actually explaining the reasoning behind declining/accepting deals which is a lot more constructive than what he comments. I get that basically everyones doing Boeser trades rn though so its kinda hard to give explanations for every post

Thanks for being reasonable and logical! I agree with you! Plus I don’t want to lose Burns he is too valuable

I'd rather see Eriksson packaged with a 1st rather than trading Boeser for Burns's contract

Ah fair enough, I gotta say I understand how Sabres fans feel every time they see an Eichel trade now

I could also see VAN doing this deal and just leaving Burns exposed for SEA in the expansion draft.

Seattle won't take Burns even if exposed.
