We already have our 7M dman signed until 40, no need for two... It would take a lot more coming in if you want to dump vlasic in MTL or anywhere

Edit: your new offer is even worse.. Try Alzner and kulak VS vlasic and that Colorado 2nd +

And even then I think it's a no, the guy is sign for 6 more years man and the contract is already bad. I think there is no offer you could make that will make a team accept him unless you take a other awful co tract back or that you give up a biiig piece which won't happen cause SJ needs all the picks and prospects they have for a rebuild or be ause its dumb to give an already good NHLer for a cap dump

Sharks accept before the Habs have the chance to realize this is perhaps one of the worst trades of all time.

Then they send MTL a condolence card once they realize this was an absolute fleecing.

Needless to say Sharks accept.

The thing with Vlasic is there are two different versions of him. The version of him 2019 second-half to playoffs, where he was absolutely fantastic, and then the 2019-first-half and 2020 version of him, which was awful.

I mean you know it's bad when it starts with resigning Thornton.
Just let it go. He's done. Time to move on.

That’s where I think you’re wrong, Vlasic is a big upgrade on the left side to a guy like Alzner who you could potentially deal or buyout. Maybe MTL might get an extra 2nd or 3rd out of this. Poeling is a good young player who has some upside. Prob a B level prospect at this point but Vlasic on the other hand might be in his early 30’s he’s a guy who is in the line up every single night and is consistently there on the back end . He’s not going to put up fancy numbers but any high level shut down D man like him will rub off on an elite goalie like Price.

Haha Nooo, never! One more shot with the Sharks and this time if they don’t look good by trade deadline they will deal him to a contender. Hopefully it turns into a Ray Bourque situation for Jumbo! At this point I just want him to win a Cup!

That Vlasic trade is legit one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Add a first and i still think it gets rejected.

Oh, and this team misses the playoffs by a mile.

no one is going to take him.
He's too old and slow.

Which is why SJS have no business resigning him at all.

And you'll be back the year after going....we need to resign Joe again......

Just crawl into a cave with that. He's done.

There's only one Vlasic. The one that is 33, has 6 years left one his contract @7 mil per year and a NMC...

Alzner vs Vlasic 2M retained + Tampa 1st and MTL still decline
Not a chance we touch Vlasic, he’s unreadable

It pains me to say this, but Vlasic I think has lost it. For years he's been absolutely fantastic defensively and an asset offensively too. He deserved this contract...3 years ago. Now, he's aging, drying up, and I can't see Montreal agreeing to this considering that they already have a stacked left side on the back end. His contract is, by many, considered the worst in the entire league: He's 33 now, will be nearly 40 when it ends, and is getting overpaid by millions considering what he's actually worth at this point. All of that is coming from a Shark fan who has adored how he's played for years. I don't think he's the shut down D-man you think he is anymore.

To be honest, the Sharks wouldn't want to do it, but if sending an extra 1st to MTL was necessary to make this happen, I'd seriously still consider.

I’m sorry to say (because I do very much like the Sharks, and Joe) but I don’t believe that Jumbo’s final kick at the can will be in San Jose. There’s too many issues with this team. I just hope that Joe gets traded to a contending team that I like at the deadline, and they can win the cup.

And there is nothing in the Sharks organization that the habs would get that could convince them to take on Vlasic’s contract.

While part of me agrees with you the other part of me ask the question who in the nhl will play 3C put up 30-40 points and be a mentor to young wingers and a stabilizing voice in the locker room for 800-1m a season like he will next year?
He’s not his old self but he is still a guy you want on your team especially if your looking for cheap forwards!

Yea I feel
Joe May sign with Toronto or Boston for one final run
Marleau will be back so we still have one old man lol,
And short of 3 1st and substantial retaining no team will Touch vlasic my only hope is his failure was Debours pathetic D system more than his diminishing talent.

I wouldn’t love those specific destinations, but yeah, it seems extremely plausible that Jumbo ends up wearing a different uniform next year before going to Switzerland.

he's a guy you want on your team if you want to lose.

He has nothing left. If you want him as a voice hire him as an assistant coach.
There are plenty of other guys fighting for jobs who have more to offer than him on every team.
You are just attached to a name. Move on.
He's too slow to play 3rd line in the NHL. He's a 4C at best and even then he has no business out there playing the PK and blocking shots at 41-42 years old.

You very much put the nail on the head with this post my only hope is given the 10 month layoffs combined with our staunch new Defensive minded wiz head coach (Fingers crossed dreaming here) who repositions Vlassic and reduces his min and helps offset his half step speed loss Helping turn him back into a decent defenseman for at least 3-4 more years. Still a horrible contract but this one we owed him for constantly being underpaid and carrying us defensively. My real hope is her plays 4 more good years and voids his contract like byfuglyn helping both of us

Why Switzerland

He’s said that he would like to play at least another year back in Switzerland before he retires. (It was where he played during both lockouts)

His final kick at the can will not be with the Sharks. He made it very clear after the deadline that he wants a legit shot at the Cup.

He still put up 31 points in 70 games which is .44ppg
Which falls in line with most 3C in the league, he’s slow but plays well positionally and his line mates post better numbers with him than without.
Same can be said for Marleau as well, the team was significantly better with him than without this year.
I want to move on from Joe and Marleau badly... but they are still better and cheaper than their replacements and I see no reason to not resign them.

That would really be ideal. Ugh I really hope he turns it around cause I know Pickles has it in him, but he's just been so inconsistent and unreliable. It's sad cause I know how good he can be. But yeah let's just hope that some of these guys who have been relied on way to heavily over the years bounce back after this extended break. My more optimistic side says this is a blessing in disguise, so let's hope that's the case.

Jumbo needs to get into reality and sign as a UFA with a contender like the Leafs if he really wants a last kick at the can.
