Most realistic scenario next season part 3

Created by: Rob32sjsharks

Description
This is part 3 of my post.
Very simple this is the most realistic team
I see next year. Two simple trades pick up a few decent FA and hope for a revival of sorts from the old vets and a step
Up from the young kids.

Honestly I see this as a 6 seed to just out of the playoffs, but only if Jones bounces backs.

Stalock isn't a logical goalie for the Wild to move. Dubnyk was horrible and is a buyout candidate, Stalock was good over a stretch when the Wild needed him and meets the expansion draft exposure requirement, and Kahkonen had a great 2 months in the AHL but otherwise looked average at best in the NHL last year in his cup of coffee with the team. He still might need time to develop and rushing him won't do anyone any good.

I normally wouldn't lay into someone this hard but you called it "most realistic"

I don't understand these trades. We just give them a 2nd for a 3rd. Stalock is a statistically worse goalie than both Khudobin and Lehner and both are UFAs. Why would u trade for a worse goalie when you could just pay a free agent. Then lets say you dont get any of the ufa's you want why wouldnt you go after Antii Ranta or Darcey Keumper since they want to bring up Aiden Hill. Or PIttsburg who have Murray, Jarry, and DeSmith. Hell even Vancouver has Domingue and Demko and one of those 2 is out the door when Markstrom comes back from LTIR.
if you did want to trade for an NHL goalie the going price for a NHL'er is not a goalie prospect and a 3rd, thats nutty.

Also with Johnsson, if we wanted a guy who's had 1 20 goal season and a career high of 43 points why don't we just pick that up in free agency especially at a cap hit of 3.4mil easily done without the trade.

and for your most realistic lineup you bump out Gambrell at 4th line center for true who wasn't even our 1st call up guy. You also have Marleau playing 4th line left wing. No idea why our most realistic 4th line isn't Noeson, Gambrell, True.

Just fyi those are the wrong conditions on the Dillon trade if the caps win the stanley cup. The 2021 3rd becomes a 2020 coyotes 3rd owned by the caps.

That’s fair bit I don’t see any scenario where Kahk isn’t in the NHL next season so if dubnyk is bought out stalock isn’t available but if Your GM keeps Dubnyk this gets dicey

Stalock is cheap 750k
If Khudobin or Lehnr are willing to come here on the cheap I jump otherwise we need to upgrade offense badly

Marleau is on the 4th and signed because sharks will use him to sell tickets and get the all time games played record in a sharks uni
No Gambrel cause he hasn’t earned it yet and true is a big body and we need that if not him then Handemark at 4C
I hope a few kids step up and push out the older guys but I’m not sold on anyone doing that this year.
Thornton Sorenson and Labanc cause they play well together

Johnson because he’s young fast skilled and has upside for a mid round pick he’ll yea I’m taking that,

Look if I could dump salary and pick up kids to redo this team I would but we’re stuck with a bunch of horrible contracts and very little money this works it leads to a better team than last year and doesn’t screw us going forward!
Rail into me all you want this make sense and fits within the cap and addresses most of our needs while not overspending or overextending
This is why I did a 3 part and if you look at my dream team I have a ton of kids and no Marleau or thornton.
