Graves had one good season as mid-pair defenseman at age 25. He is not worth a lot. Also leafs dont need another 2nd/3rd pairing guy on left side..

COL laughs and hangs up. They aren’t giving either of those pieces for Kapanen much less both of them together. Even if COL were to trade Graves that contract you gave him is ridiculous.

Actually he was awesome at the end of last year regular season, but got sat when Makar signed. The irony of that was he was Makar’s partner the entire year. I know it isn’t the best of stars but he did lead the NHL in +/- and if his value “is not worth a lot”, sure as hell Kapanen’s value isn’t either.

+/- is a bull**** stat. Hainsey should have been a norris winner a year ago if it is somewhat important.. Kapanen is worth more than him.

Why because he had one 20goal season 2 years ago? Yeah somebody that can play with your #1d and play well I’ll take all day over Kapanen, who arguably isn’t any better all around than Compher, Nichushkin or Donskoi and I sure wouldn’t expect a 1st and Graves as a return for any of them.

We don't need Rielly. If we trade Brodin, it will be for a top 6 center.

I wouldn't trade Brodin for Rielly 1 for 1, let alone tossing in a 1st round pick. Brodin is a stud defensively, while Rielly is more of an offensive guy that the Wild absolutely do not need with Dumba and Spurgeon on their blueline already. I think Wild fans on here have agreed, Brodin will get traded for a top 6 center, preferably a rightie. If not, they'll just extend him and continue to have a solid defense.

"BuT wHaT aBoUt SeAtTlE?!1one"

Uhh... trading for Rielly doesn't exactly help that situation.. lol

2nd/3rd pairing defensive Dman with one above average season at age 25 is not worth more than 23 year old speedy, gritty and feisty mid-6 winger with very good hands, playmaking abilities, goalscoring abilities and great defensive game. Not sure why would Leafs add 1st round pick in that deal. Kapanen has much higher upside than Compher, Nichushkin or Donskoi. Leafs are not trading him unless legit right shot top-4 D or late 1st comes back for him.

The trade I'm seeing is Graves for Kapanen + TOR 2021 1st. Has that been changed since your comment, or why would Colorado laugh and hang up? That would easily get accepted.

Has more upside based on what? I’ll be generous and give him the nod offensively on those 3 even though his oZ start % is significantly higher than Compher and Nichushkin. Defensively he is a DISTANT 4th to those guys considering how much PK time the Avs trio does. Then using the description “speedy, gritty and feisty with good hand” is literally how I would describe Compher. But hey we disagree that’s ok, I just like talking hockey.

Ps I noticed the edit on this trade and now it ridiculously favors COL.
