I lot to give up for two years of Gaudreau and the team likely won't make the playoffs.

This seems like a good trade for the Devils. You get a point per game player for a 50 point player in Gusev a 21 year old prospect who severely struggled in 1/2 of a season in the NHL a future 3rd and a pick likely between 15 and 20. You are not likely to get a player nearly as good with that pick.

Even tho Johnny is from NJ, he is from the south. He's a philly fan, not a Devils fan so I don't think he would like to play for the Devils

Flames say no but it’s a lot better offer than flames fans are used to seeing. Most people write off 2 years of Gaudreau like its the trade deadline and they get him for a few games.
