Description
NJD TRADE:
I've seen a few people post this trade with the ARZ 1st going back to the Canucks but I think it's probably more realistic value if it's VAN's 1st. The deal accomplishes three goals for the Canucks in a Boeser trade; recoup a good pick, upgrade the blueline and shed cap. Severson isn't a world-beater but he is a top 4 Dman on a good contract. Shedding 7.7M in the deal is massive for them right now.

DET TRADE:
This could be to any team that has some cap space and an interest in Demko in order to dump one of Roussel or Beagle.

The Canucks end up downgrading at both 1RW and 2G, but they gain a ton of cap space and get their 2020 1st back.

That's a considerable overpayment in the Detroit trade. Red Wings fans were content to take Eriksson for a similar package.

Most Wings fans seemed to say it would cost Demko and a 2nd + to take Eriksson. I would still do that over this Beagle deal if Eriksson wasn’t already shipped out in the Boeser deal. Anyways, a pick can be added or subtracted but the point of the trade is to use Demko to get rid of more dead weight if Markström re-signs.

Theres some variation, many wings fans would want another asset added alongside Demko to take Eriksson, and I think they would be right. Considering that goalies tend to have a lower trade value given the uncertainty that comes with a position I would think this is fair value. Vancouver would lose 1 of Demko or Markstrom at the expansion draft anyway.

I saw a number of Wings fan approve a trade that sent Eriksson + Demko + 3rd to Detroit for a 7th. It should cost less to dump Beagle, so I wouldn't include an important piece like Demko in that deal and make up the value with something else.

With that said, given that management seems to have made re-signing Markstrom a priority, moving Demko in the original trade I said (or something really similar) would be the best value we could get from him on the market. Then we are freed to trade Boeser for a prime return instead of diminishing it by trading Eriksson (if Boeser is actually moved, which I still doubt).

The basic trade structure that I've seen both sides agree to is Eriksson + Demko + 3rd for a 7th.

You’re spot on for the Eriksson cap dump (Eriksson+Demko+2nd). For Beagle, I’d you were willing to give us Demko back I would probably give a 4th or maybe even a 3rd back.
