Description
Lafferty - Local PA kid. 2 yr deal - yr 1 is 2 way, year 2 is 1 way. Good 13/14th F.

Angello - Turned 24 in March, 8 NHL games under his belt. Starts 2020 in the minors. 1 year contract to see if he can stick, if not he'll be career AHL most likely/go overseas. Can use his big body.

ERod - Didn't do a whole lot here albeit a small sample size. I wouldn't mind him back but not at that QO. maybe 1m/2yr. Would contend with Lafferty for the 13th/14th F spot.

Miletic - Just turned 23, 2 solid pro season in WBS. 2 year deal and maybe he can be an extra in 2021-2022.

McCann - If you look through my recent ACGM, I've been signing him 4yr/3.5M. Gonna go 3.2M for 3 years to save a teeny tiny bit of $. Exact contract of Kapanen who has a slightly higher career PPG for reference.

Simon - Initial timeline reports recovery expected 6-7 months. That'd put him at October 29th - November 29th with no setbacks. I'm going to go 3 years @ 1.5M.

Murray - Kind of a bridge deal here, but since his 2 cups / last 3 years, he's been slightly below league avg in terms of save % and right around avg GAA. This deal takes Murray to the 2022 offseason heading into 2023 a 29 year old goalie who should be able to sign a lucrative deal.

Grosenick - Veteran G for the AHL
Anas - AHL scoring depth
McCormick - AHL scoring/grit depth

Side note - Hallander has 3 yrs remaining on his rookie contract, not 2.

Let me know value of CHI trade. Obviously CHI is close up against the cap, but they need a G and aren't going to go with the 3 they have under contract right now.. I also think the potential savings from Crawford to Jarry won't be big enough to justify not doing this trade.

Byfuglien - I know this is probably way too much $, but I'd rather go higher than lower on this site. If he doesn't retire, I think he would be an absolute PERFECT addition to our blueline. He is a big body RHD who can eat up minutes if/when someone gets injured. Adds some much needed grit & tenacity on the backend and on the team in general.

Fedetov is a hulking Russian G who we entice to come over to PIT. Immediately splits starts with Grosenick for the #1 G spot in the AHL.

For 2021-2022, we need to resign Ruhwedel + Byfuglien as RFAs. Buff is most likely a cap casualty as his $ will need to be allocated to Marino. Ruhwedel will come back as the 7th/8th D which is perfectly okay.

Marino / Teddy / ZAR are all RFAs. They are all due for raises, especially Marino. I think a bridge deal for Marino would be ideal to save $ short term.. Think of McAvoy contract except Marino will get a little less $.

ZAR turned into a phenomenal bottom 6 piece this year and formed 1/3 of the best 4th line in hockey. I would love to keep him around on a deal similar to simon, maybe 2 or 3 x 1.5M ish. Drew O'Connor is someone I'd keep an eye on who could potentially fill ZAR role if we lose him/he prices himself out of PIT.

Teddy definitely deserves a raise. Had a great first full NHL season. Only knock I have against him is I'd like to see some more faceoff productivity. I would expect him to get a deal from 1.5M-1.75M and again, 2-3 years. Currently I see no replacement from within from the minors if Teddy isn't back.

It would be a tough decision for CHI, but I think they do it. They like Barret alot, but you're correct that getting a young goalie would help. Jarry could tandem with Crow for two more years until Jarry's ready to take over. The hardest part (which has nothing to do with value, but does have real life consequences) is that Barrett could have opted for his senior year and then picked his destination...now Bowman signs and trades him without 1 game in the system.

Do you think Barrett would fit in PITs system though?

Ottawa declines. I appreciate that you feel Bjugstad isn't completely washed up but OTT has loads of better options. They could look at promoting guys like L. Brown, Norris or Formenton, or they could sign UFAs (giving up no picks) for less cap and then flip THEM at the deadline thereby getting picks without giving any up.

JGP fetched a 1st, 2nd & 3rd last year.. Bjugstad has better career #'s in terms of PPG & advanced analytics.
If he stays healthy, I can't see any world where he doesn't fetch at least a 3rd from a contender..

Personally, I think it's worth it or I wouldn't have made the trade obviously, lol.
But thank you for the feedback!

I'm pretty sure Fedotov has signed an extension to stay in the KHL through the end of the 2022 season, so there is no bringing him over soon.

Looking at he trade, we own his rights indefinitely. I don't see the upside of trading those now for a late round pick.

I think all he needs to work on is his skating and he could be a good middle 6 contributor for us.
I think it would be an interesting trade that both teams benefit from, which very rarely happens on this site tears of joy

Oh I hadn't heard. I don't really keep up with any other teams prospects too extensively..

I think he is a very intriguing prospect and the only reason I traded for him was because it seems like finally, Philly has a good amount of promising young depth in the crease!
