You won’t get a lottery pick for Domi. It’s going to be a 2021 first.

I don't see Ottawa trading back, their prospect pool's already looks pretty good and they've got a helluva of picks so if I'm Dorion I'm looking to get some top end talent rather than trading back and pick 25 middling prospects. In fact I think they'll move up the board at the draft.

Never thought that Domi would get 8th overall

Dont think Dorion goes after quantity in his draft an just goes with the higher end talent

I wouldnt do the Tampa deal, but im one of the few that still have faith in KK

I think it would be like that:

    Buffalo says no
Ottawa would at least consider it, depending on how they value the players available at 5
    Tampa says no

If its 8 and 9 OA it would be a tough choice but might have to add in a second or something in next years draft

I know. Some say that 4-10 are very close to each other in terms of talent. If Ottawa believs so, I would accept the trade, if they feel that there is a larger gap between 5 and 9, they would not.

Ya team preferance I guess. 2 picks in top 5 sounds good but 3 in the top 10 also sounds good

Why trade pick 8 and 9 for pick 5 to take an undersized center, when you can get a scoring winger with size (Holtz) and a top 4 defensemen (Sanderson). Anyway there is no way Buffalo trades there 1st round pick. The owners want to get rid of salary not acquire more salary. Wouldn't be surprised if players are moved out of Buffalo to save money and replaced by guys on entry level deals.

what they are looking for. If they want to draft forward and D, it woud depend how far they see Sanderson behind Drysdale (I think Sanderson should be available at 8-9. In terms of forwards they would be more flexible, as Sützle and Byfield are both capable of playing centre, so picking up an extra Holtz or Raymond would not be a bad thing I guess.

In a dream Scenario we get Byfield/Stuzle and then Raymond and Holtz

While Domi is not worth the 8th OA adding Mete makes that a great trade for Buffalo.
Victor may not score a lot, but he is a shut down defenseman, exactly what Buffalo does not have.
I never thought I would be happy to give up the first of this year, but this is a good deal for Buffalo IMO.

if tampa trades him, its because they didnt have room for him. not because they didnt believe in his potential.

Habs traded him because they believed they needed a talented forward, not because they lost interest in Sergachev.
