BUF probably declines because of the length on Ellers contract, and he’s already 31.

If Trouba wanted to play in DC he would've gone there and not NYC. How do you think you can afford to take on Trouba $8 million over the next 6 years and be able to resign Ovechkin next year with a flat cap?

I don't think Trouba is as bad as people made him out to be this past season, however he really doesn't fit in the organization with Fox, Lundkvist and DeAngelo all on the right side.

That being said, $8 million cap hit with that term is hard to move, so I'd be willing to take back some cap if WSH needed to offload some.

Buffalo Definitely declines. A 2nd and a 3rd for a center with a career high 39 points. A lot of teams are going to be in cap trouble, that 2nd and 3rd will bring in a better player this offseason. Rather take Bozek from STL who is on the last year of his deal, and the blues will need to trade.

im confused do you think Ovechkin is getting a raise? Also Trouba was traded to the Rangers he wasn't a UFA so he had no say really where he went or did you not know that?

Ovechkin will sign for 7million and his cap difference would go to Vrana and capitals could easily move Jensen next year or Pay Seattle to take Oshie… its not as dramatic as one would think. I do believe he will take a discount bc I don't want Ovechkin at 35 years old at a high aav than 7 million

interesting take...39 points in a shortened season translates into 46 points in a 82 game year..... but if you think Bozek is better all the more power to you

Ovechkin at least gets his curent salary, He's not taking less. And FYI Trouba had all the say reportedly he'd only go to the Rangers or Red Wings and Chevy wanted more from Detroit and Holland balked so he went to the Rangers where his wife is going to be a Dr so year Trouba did have some say as he was dealt to the team of his choice.

I mean he is. Plus there will be more, many teams are going to be forced to move players this offseason. Almost like when the cap first came out. Buffalo was forced to make decisions, Chicago had to trade a bunch. Ellers just isn't that great, especially at 31, and costing two picks.

zero chance Ovechkin makes 9+ million. hes a legend in DC but they aren't morons.... no 35 year old is worth 10 million that's just common sense... rangers offered a great package to the Jets. 20th overall pick and a great replacement (NHL ready player).

then why move him. Haula is a UFA, better than Eller. And I cant see costing more than 3.5 million.

Much better options available.

Bottom line is Washington can't afford to take on Trouba without sending similar cap back, Washington is already cap strapped as it is. Even if Ovechkin takes $7 million per with a flat cap they will sill need to make moves to afford him.

capitals have mcmichaels and Protas comig up and they will need a roster spot. Haula also imo isn't better but I feel like you are using points and 1 good year in vegas to justify this and I honestly don't care to argue .... Eller last 2 years are better tha bozek and Haula imo but if you think you can do better that's also fine.

cant argue that itll be close but it all depends on how well Alexeyev and Fehérváry do.... I personally don't care to get JT im just bored and having fun..... capitals could get a comparable guy for half the cap.. or just use seig on the rs which he prefers

I wouldn’t be shocked if they didn’t have to pay Seattle to take Oshie. He’s from Spokane or somewhere close to Seattle, as is Tyler Johnson on Tampa. They could both waive their clauses and go home. Very cool to think of as a player and a fan.

TJ and TJ lol. Oshie from Mount Vernon and TJ from Spokane. Would certainly help both teams with their cap situations. Just have to get them to waive. Slap a letter on both of their chests and they’ll be beaming!
