Cutting Salary

Created by: BeterChiarelli
Team: 2020-21 Florida Panthers
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 14, 2020
Published: Jul. 14, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Did my best to stay reasonably competitive AND as close to that reported $10M-below-the-cap as possible mark that was reported earlier.

I probably need to add more to the Turris trade. Not sure if the Panthers are interested in running a full 23-man if it means saving the extra $800k.

NSH would likely take that deal.

I don't think you need to do the MTL deal though -- I think FLA management would much rather have Perrault for 1 year at just over $4m than Weal + Byron buyout at $3m this season and then 5 more years of Byron buyout. I know they're trying to cut salary, but I think they would prefer that than the Byron buyout. when the difference is only about $1m.

Seeing some issues here:

1) your signings are a bit low: your 500k low on Weegar/Wallmark relative to the estimates. Wouldn't be a big deal if FLA ownership wasn't so big on cutting salary.
2) Your trades aren't cutting salary, they're adding it... Sceviour/Stralman come out to 6.7 mil. But you're paying 8 mil between Byron/Weal/Turris.
3) Denisenko isn't ready for the NHL much less top 6 yet. Putting up the NHLe pts/60 equivalent of Colton Sceviour this season with low shot generation is not a good formula for a top 6 F next year. He needs some seasoning.

I never want to see Duncan Keith wear anything but a Hawks jersey but he might be a good fit. His cap hit is about ~5.5 million but he makes $2.6 and steadily declines as time goes on. He would probably waive to go to Florida and finish his career playing for Q and Tallon.

What would you give up on the Florida side?

EDIT: Here's the table.

Hell no. Byron is way better than Perrault, and has a way better contract.
