Oilers pass. Not a bad offer but Mcloed nearly made the team this year likely holland would rather see what he can do on an elc before trading away. Not a bad offer tho

Oilers pass on that deal. Having said that, I would for sure be interested in both Kerfoot and Johnsson on the Oilers.

Kerfoot yes

Johnsson absolutely not. He’s a mess and his cap hit is even worse.

they get a good 3c with term for a prospect with nhl upside and late 3rd rounder. This deal is pretty good for the oilers

You’ve got to be kidding. Mcloed nearly made the team this year he’s a very good prospect that is very close to filling that role with more speed and defensive smarts than kerfoot. Nothing against kerfoot but that’s really foolish for oilers to consider. No offence coming up with trade from an outsider can understand the logic and respect the fact tried to address 3c position. Just makes a lot more sense for Edmonton to give their own prospects that showed promise a chance before trading even more so when they came very close to making the team last camp.

I’m not against kerfoot is just an ok 3c the most attractive part about him is cost certainty and term would be a very minor actual upgrade to the team definitely not one would give away one of the better prospects have.

Is Kerfoot a "good 3C" though? Keefe played him mostly at LW this year, he's not great at faceoffs and he's not great defensively and he doesn't PK. Those are all things Edmonton would be looking for in a 3C.

Could get away with a non pk player as long as JJ is 4th centre wouldn’t be as ideal but at the very least would be nice to have someone that could win a draw near 50% of the time. I was on the kerfoot bandwagon for awhile but reviewed a lot of his game and I’m in no way in favour of giving anything of value up for him now.

The leafs centre depth after Kerfoot is 4C at best.

Yea pretty much this. You gotta promote from within. Not to mention, McLeod is expansion exempt. Making a deal like this would require we protect Kerfoot now too, at the expense of another player being unprotected for expansion. As I mentioned previously, I would be interested in Kerfoot if the Leafs are dealing him, but not this particular deal.

I’m really not even sure I’d take him if gave him for nothing not that he’s a bad player I just don’t see it as a good fit now. More and more I hear of him less and less interested I’ve become. As a third line player I like the salary and term but really that’s it.
