Bjugstad isn't a cap dump, he'll net a 3rd at LEAST come TDL time (if healthy).. Look at JGP, Bjugstad has better career #'s than him...

They are on completely different projcections though. Pageau has gottn better over the past few seasons and Bjugstad hasn't been serviceable since he was in Florida in 2017. Also can't ever stay healthy so thats a major problem

If Bjugstad was even healthy it’s not what the Sens need. Eating JJ will get heart burn.

Taking on any vets gotta make sense being role models playing roles while prospects develop. Glue guys while kids make their mark.

Yeah that's a no from Ottawa. You're not getting two guys in their early 20's with roster spot projections for essentially two cap dumps that aren't needed. We'll give you Rielly and Anisimov instead and you add a prospect along with that 2nd round pick.

Bjugstad isn't a cap dump tears of joy He's a cap casualty in PIT, there's a difference

Bjugs hasn't played a full 82 games in 3 seasons and hasn't left the IR in a full calendar year. He also has 28 points in the last 3 seasons (77 games) combined and has been a none factor when he has been healthy. He's a cap dump; and you trying to laugh it off as he isn't is laughable in itself. Pittsburgh will need to add.

In addition, Bjugstad has a back diving contract which OTT avoids like the plague. As much as Pens fans keep dumping him in OTT, its is just not the place for him. Better chance moving him to NJ or DET but it will cost them a pick to move him regardless.

Cap casualty, cap dump call it what you want its the same thing, essentially he isnt worth his cap number. He can barely stay healthy and even when he does play he isn't very good. His cap hit puts him in the range of players like Sean Coutrier, Domi, Coyle and Kadri.

His PPG put him with guys like Zajac, Filppula and Koivutears of joy . All guys that are playing out their contracts and won't get another offer. As well as least those guys are doing it over a full season it take Bjugstad 4 seasons to play a full 82 games

This. Also, his last good season was 5 years ago when he was on a line with Barkov and Huberdeau.

If he stays healthy, he's not a cap dump. If JPG can fetch a 1st, 2nd & 3rd at TDL, a healthy Bjugstad can fetch close to or the same return..
The one who played at a 33pt pace in 2018-2019 while playing on a ****ty FLA team + adjusting to a new team in PIT
Or the 49pt 2018 Bjugstad...

If you look at NB & JGP career, Bjugstad is better in terms of advances analytics & career goals/game and PPG.

Do numbers lie?

The guy hasn't done it for four years and we just laid out a bunch of numbers above showing players that he is comparable to

A 33 point pace is nothing to brag about Brian Boyle and Paul Byron did that this year on two ****ty teams as third and fourth liners

The only first round pick in a Bjugstad deal is going to be attached to him going to his new team

I dont think he understands he is using numbers from 4 seasons ago and per game numbers when he cant play close to a full season. He is declining and no one wants him

Also, why is the comparison to JGP here? You don't trade for players that were useful 3 years ago, do you? Pageau was great last year on a struggling Ottawa team. The only reason a GM would trade for someone like Bjugs is to take on a decent future for asset management.

I mean Joe Thorton put up similar numbers in 2017-18 maybe if Ottawa sign him we can trade him for a 1st, 2nd and 3rd this year at the TDL with a 4.1 million cap hit to go with it

Pageau was "great" playing 1C & 2C on the worst team in the league... he's vastly overrated

Yet Dorion cashed in on it. Seems pretty smart IMO. Sold high on him having a great year. New NHL was made for guys like JPG. Bjugstad… not so much. When you can't keep up on the ice, you can't play. Injuries will do that to a guy.
