GMJR Retires and I Take Over

Created by: hockeygm
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 15, 2020
Published: Jul. 15, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This right here is the best Penguins team I’ve ever made.

Mantha Trade: Mantha has one of the strongest shots in the league and has turned into a true sniper/power forward. If he clicks with Crosby he would be a new improved version of Phil Kessel who can also protect Crosby and dominate other players with his big stature. Mantha is a very talented offensive player but also a talented defensive player. Trading 28 year old Zucker (3 years older) for Anthony Mantha. Zucker dominated on the Penguins and especially with Crosby. I know someone is going to say he only played that well because of Crosby. That helps a ton but he did create many opportunities on his own, which contributed to his great point production in the short regular season span he was on the Penguins for. Simon is already a high potential top-9 player who can play on a cheap $1,500,000-$2,500,000 per year contract. Legere is just the icing on the cake. Adding a prospect with high potential entices DET that much more. All around this trade helps both teams immensely.

Gostisbehere Trade: Shane Gostisbehere is the offensive defenseman the Penguins need to help create rushes and contribute on the PP. Yes, his his defensive game lacks trust, he makes up for it with his stellar offense. PIT will reignite his offensive flame. Jack Johnson is a cap relief, but who can still play and contribute as a 3rd pair defender. Shedding 1+ million of Ghostisbehere’s contract saves PHI cap space and also gives them a 2nd round pick as well as a talented young 3rd-4th line player who can contribute on both ends.

Murray and Jarry get prove yourself contracts. Murray is paid more due to what he’s accomplished in such a short span. Jarry gets a one year prove yourself contact.

Mantha was on pace to be injured again.........
Zucker puts up more points with the penguins than Mantha does.

This is literally the first year in his pro career where he hasn’t played 60+ games. He hasn’t ever missed significant time. And if he’s so injury prone why do you want him

Not close for Gostisbehere and would rather not lose two top-6 players to pay Mantha significantly more than that

laugh laugh Okay dude lets not get carried away here, Jason Zucker has only one season where he outscored Mantha with 64 points. Other then then that he's points have been less then Manth's when healthy Mantha is miles better then Zucker.

Ghost was hurt you know. It also affected his confidence. He was much better before the stoppage. Zero chance we move him for Jack Johnson. Although Ghost isn’t anything special defensively he’s far from as bad as these boards claim. Funny how his point totals are never mentioned when determining his value especially since he is an offensive d man. Doesn’t suit the narrative I suppose

He’s already done in Philly and the draft pick is something PHI needs with its stars aging.

Dzingle scored a bunch of goals on OTT too, didn't make him a better player.
Someone has to net some goals for DET.
Here is something Zucker has done that Mantha never has. Helped a team get to the playoffs.

1. Zucker is arguably just as good as Mantha and has PROVEN he can play with Sid also Detroit declines
2. No way in hell the Flyers are trading us Goestisbehere and especially not for that package. The only way it happens is if they pull a Hoffman and the Flyers trade Ghost to another team and then we trade for him from that team

Zucker > Mantha.

Ghost isn't much better than JJ.
No way we add that much.

Yeah at the moment Zucker is probably better than mantha lol. But Detroit obviously declines due to age and potential. There’s such a fascination / obsession with mantha. He’s a player who still hasn’t even broke 50 points. Zero chance the wings trade him so I don’t know why everyone is making mock trades for him.

Okay sure dude, Got news for you. Pittsburgh will be where Detroit is now. Once both Crosby and Malkin are gone. Because other then them the team doesn't have much.

Do you want to know something else that Zucker has done that Mantha never has? Played on a good team.

Honestly, I wish people would stop making Mantha trades. Detroit values Mantha as a 30 goal, 70 point guy because the that’s the talent/potential he possesses. He’s made no indication that he’s unhappy in Detroit it wants to be traded and Detroit has made no indication that they want to move him. People make these subpar offers for Mantha and then argue that he’s not valuable because he’s never put up 50 points bla bla. If you’re not willing to give up value for a 70 point guy then don’t make the trade

yes one day the penguins won't have Crosby and Malkin this is true.
But that has nothing to do with anything being talked about here.
Believe me, MIN didn't exactly have Crosby and Malkin level talent while Zucker was one of the main pieces there getting them in the hunt.

I realize that. I’m just saying that that’s the potential he has given what he’s been able to do in 60 games. It would be silly for Detroit to value him as less then what he’s potentially capable of so if you’re trading for Mantha teams would have to give up assets for a 30 goal, 70 point guy.

I’ll give you that Zucker is a more proven player than Mantha but this trade makes no sense for rebuilding Detroit given Mantha’s potential.

Ok so. DETROIT ISN'T TRYING TO TRADE HIM? Detroit will be happy keeping Mantha. It's this buffoon saying Zucker is better but we want Mantha instead. That defense works when Detroit is trying to trade Mantha but thats not the case this is Detroit fans saying they don't want to trade Mantha.

I think you're missing the point at the end of that where I say "also Detroit declines". Mantha is 25 and Zucker is 28, Detroit is rebuilding and obviously they take the younger guy with more potential. If I was Detroit I'd definitely keep Mantha considering he's under club control for longer whereas Zucker is a UFA in like 2 years and he can grow into a dominant player in the years to come. I was trying to explain to this imbecile that this doesn't make sense for the Penguins to do and it makes even less sense for Detroit to do. Zucker works for us so it makes no sense to get rid of him. Also I never said Zucker was better than Mantha cause I don't think he is. I don't even know if I'd say Guentzel is better than Mantha
