GMJR Retires and I Take Over

Created by: hockeygm
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 15, 2020
Published: Jul. 15, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This right here is the best Penguins team I’ve ever made.

Mantha Trade: Mantha has one of the strongest shots in the league and has turned into a true sniper/power forward. If he clicks with Crosby he would be a new improved version of Phil Kessel who can also protect Crosby and dominate other players with his big stature. Mantha is a very talented offensive player but also a talented defensive player. Trading 28 year old Zucker (3 years older) for Anthony Mantha. Zucker dominated on the Penguins and especially with Crosby. I know someone is going to say he only played that well because of Crosby. That helps a ton but he did create many opportunities on his own, which contributed to his great point production in the short regular season span he was on the Penguins for. Simon is already a high potential top-9 player who can play on a cheap $1,500,000-$2,500,000 per year contract. Legere is just the icing on the cake. Adding a prospect with high potential entices DET that much more. All around this trade helps both teams immensely.

Gostisbehere Trade: Shane Gostisbehere is the offensive defenseman the Penguins need to help create rushes and contribute on the PP. Yes, his his defensive game lacks trust, he makes up for it with his stellar offense. PIT will reignite his offensive flame. Jack Johnson is a cap relief, but who can still play and contribute as a 3rd pair defender. Shedding 1+ million of Ghostisbehere’s contract saves PHI cap space and also gives them a 2nd round pick as well as a talented young 3rd-4th line player who can contribute on both ends.

Murray and Jarry get prove yourself contracts. Murray is paid more due to what he’s accomplished in such a short span. Jarry gets a one year prove yourself contact.

1. Zucker is arguably just as good as Mantha and has PROVEN he can play with Sid also Detroit declines
2. No way in hell the Flyers are trading us Goestisbehere and especially not for that package. The only way it happens is if they pull a Hoffman and the Flyers trade Ghost to another team and then we trade for him from that team

Maybe, but the Red Wings asking price for Mantha would be really high since we’re not interested in trading him. You’d have to overpay by a lot to get him and that’s not what I see here

They’re not interested in trading him but would accept a deal that makes them a better team.

Why on earth would Murray accept a 50k increase. Its a slap in the face to only bump him 50k.

Yes. And accepting that trade makes us a worse team lol. You’re not getting arguably our best player for a solid middle 6 player who’s 28, a fringe middle 6 player and a 3rd round pick

It’s a one year prove yourself then you get a 5-6 year contract paying much more.

You get a player that got 60+ points 2 years ago. Mantha has yet to crack 50. Simon can play and contribute right away. Legere is a young player that could turn out to be their next best player or even a player who contributes. They get a player arguably as good and 2 other players who can contribute to a young team that needs more NHLers.

I did it doesn't explain why Detroit would take that trade and your explanation for Philly is horrible. Lafferty is a 4th liner at best, Johnson's one of the worst contracts in the league, so they're giving one of their best offensive d-men to their biggest rival for $1 mil in cap space and a 2nd round pick? Why wouldn't they just keep him?

He’s already done in Philly and the draft pick is something PHI needs with its stars aging.

That don’t want him. He was offered at this years trade deadline and no one bit/m. His defensive game scares teams.

Mantha was on pace for 72 points this year in an 82 game season. If you stick Zucker on the Wings he won’t come close to 60, maybe note even 50. Simon can contribute right away but only as a 3rd liner. And how can you say that a guy who was drafted in the 3rd round might be the next best player.

I suppose you think you’re the only rational one and everyone else in the comments is wrong

Mantha was on pace to be injured again.........
Zucker puts up more points with the penguins than Mantha does.
