I think by adding Helm is the only way Detroit takes Eriksson without adding a 1st round pick.

As for Hamhuis, it’s a stop gap for Rathbone, I love the hype around him, but better to maybe let him season in the A for a year. And by adding him you’re adding potential bonuses which screw the canucks for the following season. 20-21 will be the toughest cap year, but they should be alright beyond, lots of good young guys coming to replace those expiring deals, and room to sign Petey and Hughes.

Most Detroit fans I've seen have no problem taking Eriksson for Demko and a 2nd but fair enough on Rathbone

If that’s the case, then good to know, frees up even more room.

Conditional 1st rd pick to us for demko performance or games played...or unconditional & we'll maybe eat chunk of helm deal or send you Z contract for LTIR SPACE to give you $6m overcap room to max out signings..must be 2022 1st rd pick also

I think the Sabres would have made that deal before Baertschi refused to report. They are very big on buy in here and character of the guys in the room and I don't think they will acquire someone that is pouting because they were demoted

Nah, I'd think the 2nd would be enough if the Nucks took back Helms full contract. Not worth risking a 1st when that could be a year when they could be seriously contending and could use it to bolster their lineup at the deadline
