depends on what COL needs. Do they needs an OFD, DFD, TWD?

Seriously, none of the above. The Avs D is very well balanced right now . With Makar/Sammy (and Byram/Timmins coming up) as our PP guys, If anything they don't need more O, they could use a cheap bottom 4 shut down D for the PK. Sadly Z is perfect for this but has priced himself off this roster. Col doesn't want to have a SJ situation like the EK65/Burns with a heck of alot of fire power and no real way to utilize it effectively while killing themselves cap wise. The Avs could use a top end middle six W or a 3C.

true. and i actually think that the 3c spot is fine. a middle six W for sure would be nice but i think Jost is capable of playing that 3c role.

Pietrangelo would be nice, but it would probably necessitate moving Johnson after next season (or before). I think the biggest "need" is a LW for the second line. Even that is not completely necessary though.

A true 2nd line W should be the priority to fit with Bura and Kadri. And, I agree 3C has some contenders already on the roster with JT and Jost. One of them needs to step up and take it.

yeah, for sure. I think jost is definitely the guy who can and eventually grow into that second line guy who could even play on the wing. but that’s still another couple years.

Based on that I'd say Piet would be the best choice of the 4 you have listed.

None

Pietrangelo is sthe only one you could make a case for but then Avs have to remodel their D core to make it work, which means trying to move on from Johnson and thats a bad idea

A RHD is definitely the better fit given our depth at LHD.

Graves --- Makar
Girard ---- RHD
Byram ---- Johnson
Cole
Zadorov

That RHD spot might be taken by Timmins, even as soon as this years playoffs, so it's not a huge need, but would certainly be the bigger need compared to LHD, especially long-term since we have Byram and Girard on the left.

Barrie would be nice, but I'm not sure he's the ideal type of Dman for us to add. Someone who's more of a two-way guy would be a better fit. Which makes Pietrangelo the obvious choice out of the ones you mentioned.

We don't need a UFA D man. We have enough already plus prospects knocking on the door both at LD and RD. If anything Sakic would sign a forward

How about Barrie and Kerfoot for Kadri and Rosen maybe also flip a 3rd and 6th?

I really miss Kadri's 'rude especially after flattening someone and staring them down.
