You dont survive though, you still dont have enough space to sign Petterson or Hughes

i honestly don't even think the Canucks are considering trading him right now... he runs the PK which had a huge improvement over last year

A lot of money comes off the books the year after, and it becomes easier to trade Loui when he only has one year left too. You should be able to give both Petey and Hughes their money

If Stetcher was a leftie, you could see Stevie consider something like that. Have too many righties already.

I do suspect their preference would be to move Eriksson first, along with Baertschi next. Beagle's numbers have fallen off the last 3 years, but his usage is crazy (24/76 ozone/dzone split is nuts). But, he is one of the top (if not the top) FO man in the league (59% FO win % in almost 700 FOs).

You have to account for 1.7M in dead cap space due to performance bonuses for Pettersson and Hughes. Or you can have 850k in dead space this year and another 850k in dead space next offseason, but that's not preferred.

I would assume moving Eriksson at 1 year costs either a 1st, Demko+2nd+maybe a 4th or one of the prospects you really don't want to give up.

Probably but if we can afford to eat some salary it may be cheaper

I would be surprised, I can't see the combo of Pettersson and Hughes coming in under $16million.

I'm not sure I'd trade Stecher just yet. He's coming off a good season he's only 26 and a cap hit $2.3M he is pretty cheap. He is also a RFA so it's not like he can just walk away. if he wants too much money then you trade him. Maybe at the TDL

Neither can I but they should still have enough cap space even if they both have a cap hit around 20mil which is probably realistic
