Big oof. Toronto fans aren't even going to cough up Johnsson and Kapanen for that. They'll want Boqvist + for William Nylander (and rightly so, given his low AAV and the reality of living in a flat cap world)

Figure Buffalo will be grasping at straws, currently have no scouting department and have in recent history have missed in the draft, top 6 F to try out

So we are trading our #8 in this draft, for LW where do we already have Olofsson, Skinner, Kahun and Johansson and for a guy who is injured + AHL player, this is a very strange deal. We need other players.

He had one bad season, especially since he has full NMC and his contract is not moving. Saad is not worth #8 even if we traded Skinner.

I think they have to pay to get another team to take him with 3M retained. Probably have to retain half before someone thinks he's worth taking for free.

LOW AAV?!?!?! He's $7M per year and still never cracked 61 points in a season. yeah yeah I know he surely could have last year.

Shaw and Gilbert are worth something? 2nd + Saad doesn't give you #8, we don't need Shaw and Gilbert, you can remove them from the deal. This deal just doesn't make sense to Buffalo.

They have a downsized scouting department. All of the scouting has been done on this years draft picks and there will be no more games for them to evaluate sonot sure how this years draft will be affected. 1 year of Brandon Saad is not worth any 1st round pick for the Sabres let alone 8 o/a
