Can't see Ottawa doing that, we already have too many centres.

Devils consider a cheap left D to bring alone Smith and Bahl but what is left in the tank? Cheap as in acquiring.

That’s a hell no from Detroit. We could pick Allen up with like a 4 or 5th round pick or better yet one of the free agent goalies.

Isn't McIsaac one of the Wings best D prospects?

OTT counters with the DAL 2nd round pick. If that works, we go for it.

We're not trading Barby, but no thanks on Brassard either way. In fact, we can just keep Bozak with these numbers.

Nope, they extended Faulk for a reason. They don't have the money for Pietrangelo, and no team is going to take cap dumps in this economy. Flat cap for the next two seasons followed by a $1M cap increase? Good luck finding teams with cap space.

He’s our best LHD prospect. If we need a goalie we’ll just sign a FA or pick up someone in a cap dum

Steen won't retire, he's still due 3mill. He will play. Unfortunately, STL will have to live with it. He controls his fate with his NTC.

Allen might get a 4th, he's an expensive backup.

Gunarsson deal is good. Nice job.

Soon to be 35 year old Bozak is a cap dump and essentially controls where he goes with an M-NTC.

Too many hoops to jump through to keep Petro. If they believed they could sign him they wouldn't have extended Faulk

If the Blues re dumping Allen (likely either way) to keep Pietrangelo they probably just promote Husso. Also Allen probably brings back a mid round pick. Also Mikkola probably comes up if Gunnarsson is dealt (again very possible). Also as helpful as this would be why would Steen retire or Pietrangelo sign for less than a half million more than he already refused. Hell, if he's this cheap why is he not already signed?

it's not way ff but it'snot super realistic. we're probably looking at Steen + 1 pick for a cap dump adn Allen (to the wings is a good destination) for like a 3rd or 4th and the call ups, hopefully that + a Gunnarsson dump gets it don, more likely Blais probably has to moved for like a 2nd and DLR has to be resigned

Steen's cap is 5.75 million but his actual salary is 3.5. The Blues should persuade him to retire. He's not going to want to waive his NTC and play one last year for some crappy team. He loves living in St. Louis so why not offer him a coaching role like Jackman and other alumni are doing? The coaching salary would offset some of the money he's due. I would put it to him as nicely as possible but it's either retire or ride the buses in the minors to end your career. There's nothing left for him to accomplish and he's simply eating a roster spot. I think he retires.

If the salary cap would have gone up as expected Pietrangelo might see 9m but I doubt he does now.

Pietrangelo is still the top FA on the market, I'd bet he could get 9. Also convincing Steen to retire sounds awfully mafioso and is easier taken care of by buying him out. so again, you are stuck getting rid of another 3.5 in cap to resign the captain, or you trade him away (packaged with maybe a second, possibly a 1st, if he's getting bought out as part of the deal then definitely a 1st) and let the other team buy him out, that is how you "convince him to retire" and then he could even resign with someone else at the min, hell he could resign at the min with the Blues once that happens (probably won't just to not piss other teams off when you can simply extend RFA Jacob De La Rose in his place but still)

Piece of cake, simply shed 19m in a maxed out cap league. Steen probably wants to play, especially on a contender where he calls home.
