Why would we sign two top UFA defensemen if we are trying to rebuild?

Wow big pass from oilers. Really hate how people assume JP is trash because he’s over seas... you do understand he’s young can step into nearly any teams top six is an above average skater with a heavy shot and excellent vision. He’s not in Finland because he’s a bust he’s in Finland because Todd was a horrible coach in Edmonton. As a fan that watched nearly every single game JP played in its painful to see sooo many making this mistake. His nhl numbers don’t jump off the page strictly due to usage and getting constantly strapped to lucic who dragged down every single oilers numbers

Danault 6m/6y. +3
Gally 6m/ 6y. +2,25
Armia 4m / 4y. + 2,4
Kk 3,5m / 3 y. +2,5
Poeling 1,5m / 3y. +0,5
+/- 10 millions

Next year saving
Tatar. 2,4
Kovalchuk 1,2 (switch for rookie Evans)
Hutton. 2. (switch by Primeau)
Weal. 1,4
Cap space 3,2
+/- 10 millions

So yeah good plan
Thanks

And at least we can trade Byron

Your math would barely work if you were not considering Juulsen and Poolparty raises and the salary of the player replacing Laffy if MTL doesnt win the lotery. And the added salary on Gallagher's contract because he wont take 6x6M.

@funnybrothers2

Also, if MTL doesn’t land Laffy your second LW is Evans in a year with no capspace to even hire a UFA? Maybe even earlier, considering there is no garanties Kovy resigns.

Safe and Sound.

The Preds right now need more prospects, not more depth players, so that trade doesn't really help.
