I did a similar idea but traded down with devils for first two picks they have to get the goalie which this organization could really use coming up. Also Jack Quinn.

Yeah I did this one because If the Sens offered the oilers 3rd and 5th I would take it. We get a (hopefully) number one dman and a first liner. We already have 2 superstars so I don't think Lafreniere is that needed (obviously he would be nice but i'd rather have these two)

If managed to get that first pick I’m completely in favour of trading down. The bonuses laf would get on this team would be more damaging than many realize and would hit at a terrible time. Laf would be great but oilers don’t actually need him in anyway

I like Drysdale good pick but I wouldn’t do just because already have larsson bear bouch. The only guy I really really think is a need for Edmonton early in draft is the goalie. Kosk isn’t getting younger and there is no real back up plan that can step in the nearer future. I see a big gap in time there id want to see addressed more than anywhere else.

would you trade McDavid for Eichel and one of Hanafin/Provorov/Werenski?

essentially that is what you would be doing here. it just wouldn't happen...

No way. Whatever team wins the lottery is 100% keeping the pick. While there isn't such thing as a sure thing at the draft, I think Lafreniere is just about there. If you can get yourself a 60+ point player on his ELC, you take that. Playing with 97, theres no doubt he'd hit all his bonuses, but thats a good problem to have.

Agreed. Oilers have plenty of depth on the right side. If Bouchard can become the #1 RHD people are expecting (obviously in a few years), Bear on the 2nd pairing, and vat in Larsson on the 3rd pairing/pk, Im really happy with that.
While that Askarov is an absolute stud no questions asked, the Oilers do have Skinner, Rodrigue, Starrett, and Wells in their depth chart, all of which have showed flashes of brilliants. You would hope one of them can lock down a job with the big club.
On a side note, if the Oilers are picking in the 10-16 range, and Askarov falls to the 8-10 range, I would seriously consider trading up to draft him.

I am amazed by a lot of this draft class but from strict oilers perspective if able to address future goaltending now that’s a best case. Rodrigue is the most promising but still long road in front of him. The rest have had brilliant flashes but also have shown clear red flags while I’d keep a few of them expectations aren’t all that high. Oilers current goalies are what pushing 35 and 40? I don’t see how creating more certainty there isn’t top priority.

OTT isn’t doing that trade, they just need more of everything and Stutzle+Drysdale is worth more to them than just Lafreniere.

I would do 1OA, 2021 1st, JP, Kemp, Russell and Neal for 5OA, Connor Brown, Tierney and 2021 3rd. I see it as Neal is the cost to move up from 5th to 1st. And the rest for Brown, Tierney and a 3rd. I’d take Perfetti at 5OA.
