I will say I’m impressed you actually included a 2nd rounder back for JP that’s sorta refreshing from most of the garbage offers people think will get JP. Still tho that deal would only complicate the oilers cap situation far more than needed.

No because McDonagh and Johnson aren't waiving to go to those destinations.

I might be wrong, but I think Tyler Johnson is worth more than Martin Marincin

Detroit declines, McDonagh isn't waiving to go there. And Detroit isn't taking on a older more expensive contract.

I actually really like that deal from the Oilers perspective. They would need to have a separate deal in place to move out cap, and it definitely complicates the expansion draft a little bit for them, but thats really really good value, so i don't think they could say no.

I like Gourde but that contract...

Comeau is going off the books next year so I rather we keep him or buy him out.

We will need that money to sign Miro and Hintz + Gurianov long term in 2 or 3 years. I also strongly believe that Hintz and Gurianov will each surpass the offensive production of Gourde as soon as next season and for many other seasons to come.

If Toronto trades for Miller (extremely overpaid, useless against anything but the weakest competition) I stop watching hockey.

If a team offers that much for JP you take the deal every damn day of the week.

My preference for JP is at minimum a 2nd round pick and like a B+ prospect. If I have to swap either of those pieces for a proven winger, I'm not saying no.

Big overpay for Puljujarvi.

So are teams just gonna help Tampa for free? Or historically have we seen teams overpay to free up cap space?

Killorn for Puljujarvi is pretty even, adding more in Edmonton's favour incentivizes them to do it. I'd happily settle for a lesser pick but to claim it's a "big overpay" is either underselling Puljujarvi or Tampa's troubles, or upselling how readily teams will be willing to help Tampa.

1st and a quality prospect for JP is the ask and I don’t see any reason for holland to bend on that. Holland was very clear in saying bringing JP back is higher priority than trading. JP is a young top six forward and will be valued as such from oilers perspective because that’s what any team interested will looking at him as. If teams don’t line up offering that just works in favour of Holland’s intentions anyways. He’s not going to be nearly as easy to acquire as many on this site suggest.

That was my reaction to those trade as well.
Just trade him for a pick, I would imagine he would return at least a 2nd.
Instead of Miller make it a second and Pilut.
Pilut would most likely come back to the NHL if he knew it was with the Bolts.

No it won't. This guy isn't on a Backes or Lucic kind of deal. He's still productive & only signed through his age 33 season. It's not like you're taking on a mid-30's player signed until he's 40. Taylor Raddysh + a 3rd would be fine for any team that could use a guy like Gourde. Not saying Dallas should pull the trigger, but it's not going to cost a 1st Round Pick to move the guy.

He's been playing predominantly 3rd line minutes in Tampa over the last two years and is still a .5ppg player. Find a team that will use him in the top-6 and you'll see an increase in production. For a guy making slightly over $5M until he's 33, it's not a high risk play, but it could be a high reward for the team that lands him.

Most of the teams that have a spot for him in their top six aren’t good teams and he prolly wouldn’t sign off on the trade
