I like this Johnny trade more than any move I have seen for Lindholm to the Sabres.

I'm a big fan of Jokiharju and at least you included the top 10 pick in this so kudos. Much better than the Mittelstadt/Risto garbage we usually see proposed.

garbage trade? you guys have the worse prospect pool in the NHL and you can get a young top 4 RHD a top 10 pick for a lw coming off a down year. JG is really good but garbage trade seems extreme? sounds like you think with your heart and not your brain

imo this is a minor step back but the sabre can make the playoffs with this team and it will make Jack happy. you are build a blueline around a player you got 6 months ago? how long was the build? who did you add?

we don’t think he’s a top 20 dman...we just love the idea of a dahlin-jokiharju pairing for the future. with that being said, this trade definitely peaked my interest.

this top line could do a lot of damage.... i think JG would gel instantlt with Eichel and SR. they could be a bubble team and put up career numbers... think this could keep jack happy till Buffalo makes Cozen a legit 2c .... he has all the potential just needs to adjust

In a vacuum this trade works a far as value (maybe a slight over pay by the Sabres but you have to for a player like JG). However the Sabres already has 2 top 6 LW, so it really doesn't make sense for the Sabres to make this trade. They need RW and a 2C so no sense in trading a young (potential top) RD and 8th overall for one of the few positions they are strong at.

my biggest issue with Buffalo fans is you guys want to improve your roster but refuse to offer anything of value. you need to giveup something good to get something good. cant keep trading CM and Risto for great returns. nobody is going to do that. so either make a fair deal with solid players or have Jack request a trade out

Skinner might be a Okoposo 2.0 id say after lasst season you have 1 good lw and 1 potentially good lw.... JG with Eichel will get 90-100 points. you dont have an ELite LW

6 months ago? It was over a year ago. You can just put Skinner with Eichel again and you will see the same results. Skinner still had the most quality chances playing with the worst players on the team.

Replace Jokihariju with Montour and it's much more fair. Just the cap space has the value of a 1st round pick.

I think a better trade would be Olofsson and Jokihariju for Gaudreau.

I love how it's always "two years of Gaudreau" like that's not valuable, especially when he's only at a $6.75m AAV. Guys that do what he does get paid more than $10 million AAV now.

Also, GMs give up huge packages for 2 months of rentals every single year, 2 years of Johnny is an eternity and then they'd be able to offer him the best contract extension as well.

But as said before if Skinner plays with Jack they are in. Even if Ullmark stays healthy they would have still been in the real playoff race and would have easily made the 24 team playoff.

The Sabres have to pay Sam this year and then Dahlin next year. They are going to have very limited cap to work with in 2 years to resign a player that will command what Gaudreu commands so in all likelihood he is at best a 2 yr rental. If he were the one piece that could put them over the top next year and make them a contender I would do this but he is not. They still need to find a 2C, with this trade a top 4 RD, a top 6 RW and they have traded their best asset that could have been used to acquire those pieces
