Lehner will get somewhere between 6-8 mil over 5-7 years. Maybe on the lower end of those numbers because of the flat cap but he will get more than 5.5 x 4 for sure

I think the Wild will trade Stalock. He will get a nice return with a flat cap, making hardly over league minimum. Sell high on Stalock, this is a career backup that you could turn into a 3rd round pick.

Then I'd run with Dubnyk and Kahkonen. It's a little more reliable than Kahkonen/Stalock. One year left of Dubnyk and then Kahkonen can take on the starting job.

They should definetly sign Lehnor and move on from Dubnyk. THey might need to take a bit of a hit market value wise on Dubnyk, but if it frees the space to sign Lehnor then do it. Stalock should Sta-put...good backup and short term deal for basically the league minimum

For $5.5m x 4, yes to Lehner. I'd pass on him if it was over $6m/yr.

I'm fine with running the 3 headed monster of goalie KK, Stalock, and Dub in net next year for MN. I do think there is the potential to have their goalie taken care of inhouse with goalie KK, Robson, and Jones in the pipeline.

That is a bad idea. Stalock's current contract was specifically signed so he would meet our exposure requirement in the expansion draft. Dubnyk will be a UFA at that point and every goalie in our system other than Kaapo is exempt. I'd much rather hang on to Stalock so we can expose him than have to rush to sign a goalie that meets the exposure requirement just so we can protect Kaapo and not be penalized by the league.

All you have to do is sign an AHL backup goalie that fits the requirements. It's not a rush and it's not difficult. CGY signed Tom Mccollum to expose, he didn't even play for their affiliate, they loaned him out

Unless you want to buy Dubnyk out, they should explore a Stalock deal. They may even get a 2nd round pick for him

Why bother?
-A pick is nice, but not too long ago the Wild ended up with Bryzgalov as the starter and John Curry as the backup in the Playoffs. It really was too bad about Harding's MS, that 13-14 Wild team was very good.
-Nobody trusts any of the goalies on the Wild roster right now. Dub might rebound or not and only has 1 year left. Stalock can get on a hot streak or be on a cold streak. KK/Jones/Robson all have high ceilings, but are untested in the NHL. The hope is one of them turns in a good year next year.
-The goalie market is weak for sellers this year. Lots of them are FA or on the trade block already.
-The Wild aren't in any cap trouble currently. Signing a guy like Lehner (who I really like) to an $8m/yr deal puts them right back in cap hell.
-The expansion draft considerations.

All that adds up to a wait and see what happens type of season in net for MN. I don't like it as a fan, but it's what makes sense in the long run for the team.

Look at the deal Stalock is on, it's extremely team friendly. Teams that are close to the cap do funny things, TB paid insane prices for Coleman and Goodrow due to their contracts. Stalock makes hardly over league minimum, that's very valuable. It would be foolish for MIN to not explore the market on Stalock. Sure there's a ton of backup's, but none of them are making 785,000 like Stalock.

That's exactly why MN should keep him. If offsets the $17m in bad contracts of Zucc, Spurgeon, and Rask, and the $15m tied up in Parise/Suter on the team. Trading players on good contracts for random picks isn't something any team should be doing in with the flat cap. They'll just need to be replaced with a more expensive player instead. I really think fans value (non-1st round) picks much more than GMs do.

Simply put: Does trading Stalock right now for a 2nd, 3rd, or whatever pick do anything to make the Wild better in the next 2 years? He's not expendable (like Zucker was), the Wild aren't tanking where they want to stock up on a ton of picks, and Stalock has the whole #oneofus thing going for him that MN fans eat up for some reason.
