Thats a few years from now....No worries there. We have enough in expiring contracts to pay Laine and Poink next year.

I'm pretty sure I heard that the winning lottery would have been the jets pick before the play in round existed

With the Buffalo trade I would rather have Perreault than Bjugstad, just Hutton for Perreault and I'm good.

This is correct. If the NHL had gone to a typical 16 team playoff based on pts %. The jets would have won #1

Hutton is a fine backup on a decent team...His numbers on NSH and STL were great

They were, Buffalo didnt sink him though, he had an undisclosed issue with his eyes. He wasnt seeing the puck well. No one is sure if he can get better, its a big gamble

If Bjugstad's surgery worked and he is healthy, then I would rather have Bjugstad than Perrault. If the surgery didn't work then Bjugstad goes on season opening LTIR and doesn't matter. Either way he is a better option than the slightly more expensive Perrault.

I was going to cut out he 3 way too and just send Bjugstad straight for Hutton, and then waive Hutton before the season with fingers crossed that someone didn't mind his $2.75M salary and took a chance on him. Otherwise, I'd just keep Bjugstad. No reason to go for Perrault over Bjugstad.

It gives a year to decide if one of Ehlers, Connor or Laine is to be traded for cap reasons and to get a top RD or a decent RD and picks

this is true. I have heard, analytically speaking, which I am always a little hesitant to listen to, that Connor is actually the most replaceable of WPG's top 6. Lafrienierre would replace him more successfully than he would replace Laine or Ehlers, if that makes sense, due to the unique qualities they bring individually. So thats where I would be mentally if I'm the WPG gm after winning the lottery

Yes it would have. But I do believe they were in a playoff position so not really.
