Description
The ideal scenario. These are doable trades, etc but of course the problem is getting them all done, especially considering the NTC Burns has in his contract. However, given his ego, it wouldn’t be hard to push him out if he isn’t pampered to at every turn.

One thing the Sabres don't need is another left winger

In a saturated cap constrained market absolutely he will sign for that “cheap”. Especially with term. The only reason he made $5M this year because it was on a 1 year deal. Also, he’s yet to prove himself as a full time starter.

Only proven elite goalies make more than $4M a year. Unless you make a very bad decision (cough Doug). Lehner is not an elite goalie.

Eh. That was just a throw away trade. Didn’t matter what team.

the 1 year deal was to prove that the 2018-19 season wasn't a one off, which he did. He makes 6 million plus.

lol. No it wasn’t. The Blackhawks even said it wasn’t. They said they needed a backup and that’s the only way they were getting him for a year. A prove it contract would be ~2M for a goalie for one year. Also, I don’t think you understand what prove it for a goalie is in the NHL. He’s played less than 55% of a seasons games in every season he’s played and followed up every solid season with a mediocre one. He’s a better goalie than he’s given credit for, but there’s a reason he hasn’t landed long term with any team despite solid numbers. Also lol at the $6M number. Not a chance he gets near Gibson or Hellybuck in AAV.

he just had 2 consecutive good seasons

lol, not a chance he gets near Gibson or Hellybuck. That's like saying Toffoli won't get 6 million because that's close to MacKinnon

I really don’t think you’re getting this even remotely. He didn’t just have two good seasons. He just had two seasons where he didn’t even play close to the number of games a normal starter plays. Even with the restart on this second season he may not even get to 50 games. You do not give starting elite goalie money to A player who has yet to play a full starting cycle. It just does not happen. Never has and never will.

Lolololol. You’re seriously using a forward example here. Dude. Stop making me laugh so hard. 1) not remotely comparable 2) McKinnon hadn't established himself as elite in the game and purposefully took a massive discount because he wanted to be able to surround himself with talent 3) neither Gibson or Hellybuck took a massive discount 4) please stop. You’re embarrassing yourself
