I'd rather not do the deal if we have to take back Comeau and Cogliano. Pretty much same cap hit, and we're losing a potential top-6 forward and a pick.

Canucks are not trading Hoglander. Toffoli is not signing for 2 years. Whys is Tanev getting 5 years? Also terrible trade for the Canucks you actually only save 750,000 on the cap if Eriksson buried in the Ahl this year and 3.5 million the next year if Eriksson is bought out. So, even without the trade the Canucks will be under the cap and next summer Eriksson will be bought and only cost 4 million against the cap and 1 million the next. Next year their will be a lot contract coming off the books and the Canucks should have room to sign Pettersson and Hughes pretty easily.

What about Loui (50% salary retained) + Hoglander for Comeau? Then the Canucks buy out Comeau's contract?

No matter what, a valuable asset would have to go the other way in this deal.

Agreed. So what do you think the Toffoli and Tanev deals look like?

Realistically, I think the Canucks bury Loui and sven in the AHL, buyout sutter, and trade Benn.

They will, however, either have to trade Roussel or let Tanev walk. I don't think they can keep both.

Honestly I don't think he needs to be traded but I could see him being traded to a team like Florida who's owner want to cut salary. Something like Stralman for Eriksson (1 million retained )makes sense. It saves Florida like 10 million dollars over the next two years. Stralman would then get bought out and save the Canucks 3.5 million against the cap in 2020.

I don't think Tanev is coming back unless he takes a home town discount. Tanev might get 2*4.5. I don't think he is on the team next year tho. I think Toffoli will get 5*.5.25.

He also, wasn't that great this year and Hughes was actually better without Tanev. I have a feeling Barrie will be a Canuck Jim Benning loves him.

For Toffoli you are probably looking at a minimum of 5 years and also likely 5.5M

From Dallas’ perspective it wouldn’t be ideal to take on Eriksson, but Hoglander makes this a pretty quick accept from them. The Stars prospect pool is bare on the wing after Robertson. If I’m Dallas, I take this deal pretty quickly

You missed out the additional piece to go along with Benn.
Yzerman isn't going to give you cap relief for the warm fuzzy feeling of helping out another team.

Ok, what's the sweetener that Vancouver needs to add to this?

As Benn's contract isn't dreadful, but just one that needs to be moved it wouldn't be too high. A 3rd most likely as Benn would be an acceptable bottom pairing D. You could get Detroit to take another contract for some additional cost, Sutter for example.

Nope Detroit has no use for Jordie Benn.
