Some of the players moved have 5 and 15 team modified NTC's. I tried to work within what I expect the players to pick but I'm no wizard so I'm not sure. I didn't delve outside of the team for UFA's because JIM I LOVE YOU BUT YOU NEED TO STOP BUYING PEOPLE! YOU'RE NOT GOOD AT IT. (he's good at literally everything else, I just don't get it)

Yikes!

I think Jake and Gauds are taking bridge deals here. Both 2 years at a number starting with 2.

Marky is asking for 6 but I think they settle in the 5s somewhere.

Toffoli is probably pretty close to that.

Tanev needs to take a home town discount and that's not it

Colorado, Montreal and Chicago are not taking salary cap dumps. None of those trades happen.

Payed Lind and a second for 5 mil in cap.
Payed two rounds to dump Roussel on a team that I think would love to have him.
Col has money and Sutter and Stetcher are exactly fine there. Maybe Stetcher and the picks aren't enough but if I have to add a bit more I could.
If you don't know who they people Van is getting are, trust me, they're just trash throw ins.

It's almost like I said that one might not be enough and there's room to discuss.

COL would have to be super enticed to help VAN shed payroll, and none of that does it, they don’t need or want bottom 6 forwards, or dmen at all. So unless it’s a 1st rd pick or a prospect w/top 6 potential they use their cap space themselves.

12 of their 26 roster players are UFA's or RFA's at the end of this season. So neither of us know what they want. They have 32 million in space right now and no where near enough people needed to fill it unless they go bonkers on free agents. Van's cap crunch only means to them that they would love to be bribed to help. Do I need to bribe better, sure, maybe, but I won't worry about discussing it with someone giving me eye roll comments like they're in high school. I'll wait for someone else.

Trades are reasonable enough if teams are looking in that direction. Can squeeze more cap out if some of those signings. Marky likes Van & will sign at 5.25-5.5m. Jake is a covid discount bridge imo 2/2.5m max. Fatty will be let go. Tanev for less $ & term is a guess.

First of all, your math is wrong. Beagle has 2 years left @3M. With Baertshi, that's 8.3M caphit on the books. That's huge with a flat cap.

MTL received Armia + 4th + 7th to take care of Mason's 4M contract, half your capdump proposition.

Considering that, MTL ask for Virtanen for that bundle.

I think you did well here. Contracts are of reasonable range likely a bit on high side but on here I think that’s wise shouldn’t plan or expect discounts. The trades seem fairly reasonable with room to negotiate some tweeks to make work. Overall very solid job.

Yeah MB would take a cap dump but only IF you add a good young player that hasn't lived up to his potential like Virtanen. MB set the market a couple years ago think Habs-jets trade MB took Mason but it cost the Jets Armia and a 7th for Bourque. And Mason only had a year at 4.1 Mil. So Beagle + Virtanen + 7th for an AHLer is about what it will cost.

The contracts seem about right. Agree with you that Benning shouldn’t go for anyone in free agency(Myers, etc.). Agree with a lot of other people that Tanev’s contract should be cheaper, since he’s been with the team for awhile and his numbers aren’t amazing. I like the Gaudette contact but think Virtanen gets another bridge deal. CHI and MTL accept, by the way. COL’s still thinking about it

I think Colorado might take a cap dump for one year, but it depends on what else happens in the off season, and would probably be pretty costly regardless. If the team signs Hall, for example, (long or short term), then it's pretty much out the window. If they do nothing or go with one of the lesser UFAs, then maybe.

In any case, it might be tough to convince Sakic to use cap space rather than save it and see what opportunities arise at the deadline. The sweetener might have to be pretty damn sweet, and I'm not sure this does it.

Avs aside, it might be a lot more costly to move out salary in the next couple years than in the past. Lots of teams want to do it, and only a handful have the room and desire. Teams could end up paying premium picks and/or prospects. We'll see.

There's not much incentive for COL to take on that extra cap. Unless you add a high pick or prospect Sakic would be better off using that cap space to add a better player and improve the team

5 mil per. which is what anyone would mean in this spot. literally anyone.
If I need to add to the Mtl deal I would try to. it's hard to just enter a trade knowing there would be negotiations. I would clearly get feedback and alter the trades later if this was real.

Lets just assume the Col deal gets a good size boost and maybe there is some Van retain for 1 season on the other deals/maybe a bit more to MTL. The deals dont have to be perfect it's the players moving around that is more important. I didn't move loui because I don't think it's realistic. This is the group I would want. If the contracts I offered go down I'm not gonna complain. I didn't know about Marky asking for 6, I don't look around for agent discussion stuff, I love Tanev and if I overpayed, ok. This is way more about overall than small stuff like 250000-500000k on a contract. The other GM I saw recently was basically, dump the franchise, dump the future and blame Benning. I'm just trying to do things where JB looks like he had a plan even if it went off the rails for a bit.

We eigther need to resign crow or get another goalie so that doesn't really help the cap situation any
