Help Around Core

Created by: mikeyscav
Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 16, 2020
Published: Jul. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The center spine is revamped behind Eichel with the additions of Bozak and Zacha. Cozens is introduced to the nhl on the wing and can be slowly moved to the middle and up into the top-6 as he matures. Hopefully can take over Bozaks spot in the middle next season

A lot of UFA money will be off the books after this season and hopefully then there will be questions answered about this roster. This also frees up money for the big Dahlin and Jokiharju extensions

Not a big fan of bozak or the trade. Would rather focus on getting one center and giving the other spot to Mitts or Cozens depending on the line combination.
I think realistically you're looking at a lineup with cozens Mitts and Thompson in the starting line up.
This is how they are a gonna consolidate the cost and control cap space

I like the Bozak trade for the Sabres if he'd waive for Buffalo, don't like the Fast signing though, think the Maroon signing isn't a good use of minimal cap space either.

I like the Zacha deal. I feel like he is an ideal 3rd line center but maybe we can get by with him at 2C for 1/2 to 1 year until Cozens has proven ready. I like Fast as a depth right wing. Don't think Arizona makes that deal even though value is fair. They are up against the cap and would not be wanting to bring in more money than is going out.

I don't think Buffalo needs depth wingers though and ones with term could just cause cap complications in the future.

Fast is worth the 3.25. He is good for 30 - 40 points and is good both ends of the ice. He will be a great player to have on Cozens wing to help insulate him and you can move him into the top 6 if you have injuries and you won't have an untenable drop in production.

If it was Zacha and the "worst" of the Devils 2020 1sts then it would be fair value, Zacha and a 3rd isn't Risto's value

I agree with you my man. I think a guy like Zacha/Teirney would be a good target. Can role as 2c but a good/great 3c and wouldnt cost and arm and a leg to acquire.

I like everything said in thread about acquiring a solid but cheap center like zacha/Tierney.

I quoted this one with the fear that they think Cozens, mitts, and Thompson should all be in the lineup. Cozens should get at least his tryout but who knows, mitts probably needs more seasoning, and Thompson is a wild card off this shoulder. Banking on all of them could very easily be a disaster

Yeah I completely agree. I just think that with the possibility of no AHL they will let these guys play instead of them not developing. And all this on top of all the other effects of covid. Money might be tight around the league so they might have to rely on cheap contracts

I really hope they find a way to get these guys into more developmental camps/games or something to avoid teams being forced to do this
