You obviously didn't read the articleand just like to troll everything Habs related. He said he thinks the Habs are competitive and has the confidence in the direction MB is taking the team! He sees the development of players like Suzuki and others as a sign that this is about to become a very good team.

Direct Quote

If you think that sounds like Gallagher wants out of Montreal, you would be wrong. When asked whether he thought it was possible to win with the Canadiens he replied: “I definitely do.”

While he said it was discouraging to miss the playoffs in each of the past two seasons (and heading for a third miss this season), he expressed confidence in general manager Marc Bergevin’s vision and pointed to the development of youngsters like Nick Suzuki as a sign that the Canadiens are headed in the right direction.

Another direct Quote

“I was happy to sign for a six years because it gave me a sense of security as a player and I was able to block out a lot of things that younger players have to deal with mentally,” Gallagher said. “That was important to me at the time. Now, I want to put myself in a position to compete for the Stanley Cup and I believe in  Montreal we have that potential and you can see steps going forward. As a player, you always like to stay where you are. Nobody like change all that much, it kinda scares you. If it’s possible to work it out in Montreal, it’s something I’d enjoy.”

You need to actually read the article to educate yourself before you make yourself look like an idiot. I know it is too late for that with regards to Gallagher and this article but next time you should really consider it!

I’d be very careful taking a pro athlete at his word particularly when for the first time in their professional career that they have the freedom to not only do whatever they want but to literally make double what they are making. If it comes to the deadline and he doesn’t have an extension he would be foolish not to listen, and then what happens when say an Edmonton comes offering similar money and the chance to play with McDavid?

Not enough for Gallagher and I don't think the Avs have any that they would be willing to part way with or that the Habs want

avs can part with the picks. they can't do it every year but a 1st and 2nd isn't going to kill them.

I dont feel like there is ANY package that MB would accept for Gallagher unless it is a huge overpay! Like I am talking Girard + Timmins + 2020 1st + Beaucage or Byram. Which from the Avs point of view doesn't make sense!

The trade proposal for Gallagher in this AGM is obviously a bit short of fair value. But you're even further away with your proposal.

I think you misunderstand, that isn't my proposal but more of what I believe would be a similar package to what it would take for MB to move on from Gallagher. For MB to move Gally, Weber or Price would take more than "fair value" it would take a major overpayment.

it either trades him or lose him for nothing. the last thing you want to do is handle the situation the way nyi handled tavares.

With 1 year to UFA Bergevin doesn't have the leverage to demand a major overpayment.

that's why this kind of trade with the Avs wont happen. (especially if you consider that Sakic's rebuilding model is comparable to a farmer/investor patiently waiting for his crops/assets to fully grow/mature which means he probably wont part way with his unproven top prospect) I can't see the Habs wanting late 1st round pick for Gally, especially if you consider what Bergevin got for pending UFA Pacioretty (and that's with the drama surrounding the Habs-Patch before the trade & the fact their former captain of the Habs was coming off a down year w/o 30 goals)
It'll have to be something close to the Suzuki package.

Other examples that came in mind were pending UFA Pageau for 1st, 2nd and 3rd. (overpayment considering Tatar w/ couple years is better than Pageau) On the other than, Sens managed to get a very good prospect for Mark Stone even though that trade was underwhelming for the Sens.

that's pretty much the package for getting a guy like Mark Stone with extension if Dorion had used the same negociation tactis as the ones he used for shipping Pageau away. Although I gotta say that this package for Gallagher is pretty much quantity over quality.

Reminds me of the 90s when the Avs literally plucked anyone they wanted:

Brian Ralston? No prob, Sakic & BR coordinate black leather jackets for the presser.
Ray Bourque? Re-signs for two years!
Theo Fleury? Wants a shot at winning
Rob Blake? Cup City.

I remember Fleury had his jersey ripped and bloodied, so the officials made him take it off in the penalty box. A fan threw him a signed Fleury jersey. He puts it on. Then the officials make him take the fan jersey off bc it is not allowed. Then he's traded to COL.
