Sabres playoff team

Created by: BigDog91
Team: 2020-21 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 18, 2020
Published: Jul. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
With this team we have four solid lines. Hopefully cozens can take over 2c after the deadline but if he can’t strome can handle the duties until he is ready then will move to 3c or wing.

Our defense would be improved with growth of joki and dahlin. But the addition of brodin can push the defense to the next level.

Demko has to have better season then Hutton did last year. While I think he will have much better season next year I would feel better with demko.

Rangers have too many RHD as it is. Also the reason why the Rangers wanna trade Strome cheap is because he will get at least 6M just for arbitration (based on his inflated numbers this season).

Vancouver rejects. The 2020 1st isnt even enough for Boeser let alone the massive goalie upgrade.

The Wild would be wild to take that deal.

Love Montour but rather have a 2020 2nd considering our RHD depth.

Boeser is not worth 8OA.

And it's not a massive upgrade at goalie. Ullmark had better numbers. But get your point. I think 8OA is pretty close for that return. Maybe but adds a prospect or cheap mid 6 player or RHD

I respectfully disagree.

I think Demko is a massive upgrade over Hutton. Hes cheaper, younger, got more potential, is under team control and is already better than Hutton.

As for Boeser. He is worth the 8OA pick. That pick could be a much better player than Boeser but there's also a chance it's a complete bust and you just traded Boeser for nothing.

Teams also have to pay a premium for established players when they are paying in unknowns.

For example Goodrow, Coleman, Pageau and many others.

Tbh I think Buffalo still needs to add even with the 8th OA pick.

Definite upgrade over hutton no doubt there. Just dont know if demko takes the reins over ullmark so in my mind I dont know if the upgrade is worth it.
And maybe boeser is worth 8OA and that's something we can disagree with. It if I'm spending a top 10 pick in a hyped up draft I'm grabbing a 2C not a winger.

So maybe the package is worth what's proposed but Intel like if buf is gonna upgrade over Hutton it can be through free agency without giving up assets. And getting a 1RW and being able to put Reino to 2RW would make us very deep at wing but for 8OA I would still want. A center

Yeah I agree Buffalo needs a centre. But the 8th OA pick will be the absolute minimum price for Boeser. He's too good to trade for anything less. Vancouver is in no rush to move Boeser.

Personally I'd rather Boeser over Cirelli who I've seen many Buffalo fans trying to give up the 8th overall pick + for.

I'll give you that for sure too. I'm not sold on cirelli especially for that price. And I'm not sure i know the price for boeser cause I would not want to lose my top line winger for just that. But as the team giving up the pick I feel like its more valuable than a winger

What's more valuable depends on if you want to compete now or continue rebuilding.

It's like do you want 50 dollars now or a 50/50 chance at 100 dollars 3 years from now.

Sabres need to compete now no doubt about it.
Cannot spin their wheels & waste years of Eichel.

The organization has to get it on the rails & thats shore up the net being with Ullmark already they need the 1 2 punch to avoid long slumps & their annual nose dive.

A 2C is a big need but the wait isn’t an ideal situation. Gotta pin hopes on Cozens. Mittelstadt is looking to not be panning out so groom him as a 3C. So fill in the top 6 & Boeser would fit nicely but he’s not getting traded. Only chance is a deal that JB cannot decline.

I think Cozens will be a solid 2C in a couple years.

He needs time & not be rushed. In the meantime Sabres have lots to do yet.
