Covid-trade

Team: 2019-20 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 18, 2020
Published: Jul. 18, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
At the trade deadline, the Montreal Canadians were the 4th worst team in the Eastern. Arguably they were out of a playoff position considerably. What if Armstrong had offered this trade, what would the likely hood of the Canadians accepting?
Trades
STL
  1. 2020 1st round pick (MTL)
MTL
  1. 2020 1st round pick (STL)
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (STL)
  3. 2020 4th round pick (STL)
  4. 2021 1st round pick (STL)
  5. 2022 2nd round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
This trade is conditional on Montreal missing the playoffs. If they make the playoffs then the trade only becomes the 2020 first and fourth. The trade is overloaded in Montreal's favor with the anticipation of Montreal not making the playoffs to entice the trade. Ideally, Montreal loses in the first round and the blues win the number one pick in this year's draft. This trade could be done with any number of teams

At the trade deadline, this would be an easy yes for the Habs, and we would’ve kept either Thompson or Cousins and Kovy to help us make the Blues’ pick slightly worse.

A easy yes ?? A lottery pick for a late first round pick and some random later round pick not a chance Montrea would accept that. That would have been completely stupid. You don’t trade away a top 10 pick to move over 25th overall.

add Vince Dunn and Robert Thomas to your trade and MAYBE the habs think about it MAYBE. one chance to get a superstar it will cost you a lot more then just a few late pick.

Im not sure you understand the premise of the entire trade. Youre giving up a top ten draft pick for 5 draft picks. Make it 2 firsts and 2 seconds, you're still missing the point.

ok do you prefer i say it will be lottery protected , if its 4 to 10 we make the trade if we are top 3 its the first round of next year ,you said it yourself top 10 pick , 4 to 10 its in the top 10.

no one will give up a chance at the lottery for a couple of late first round it make no sense .

so 2 option

1- 1st round MTL (lottery protected ) vs 1st round, 2nd round ,3rd round , 1st round ,4th round as you said (if you accept that you really are not helping your team)
or
2- 1st round MTL not protected vs Dunn , Thomas ,1st round , 2nd round ,3rd round , (1st round , 4th round conditional if its top 3)

You have zero understanding of what this trade is even doing. Let me help you out. Make the pick 7 years worth of 1st rounders from the blues for Montreals first in this years draft. But if Montreal makes the playoffs it becomes swapping firsts and Montreal gets a 4th.

the problem is no one will trade the first overall or the chance to him only for late first round pick you have to put some high end prospect or player .
the team who got lottery chance from other team that' s because they were protected the year before .

FFS at the trade deadline, Montreal had zero expectation that they would be getting the first overall pick. Swap it to any other team that loses in the first round and wins the Lafrienere sweepstakes.

we still dont have it far from it . we are around the same place we were at the deadline . 8th place give 6% at the lottery and now technicaly 1/2 vs PIT (i know ) then 12% when we loose so basicaly 6%
