Description
I think Lehtonen will be a top 4 D and what I have heard is that he can play on the right side too.

Johansson will prbably have a hard time in Minnesota, as the right side is actually quite good there and he also has prospects ahead of thim in Minnesota.

Also, I think that Dermott would be an attractive option for the Calgary flames, as they have a lot of UFAs on D this offseaon, so Dermott would be a nice option there, and Kerfoot could contribute on in Calgary as a 2nd line winger or 3rd line centre or winger. I think combined, this return is not crazy (probably a mid to later 1st round pick.

I know that the D looks kind of weak on paper. But I think the left side is actually quite solid.

Lehtonen is not a young kid anymore and is seen by many euro scouts as the top Euro Free Agent this summer and Liljegren did very well in the AHL last season. They could consider bringing in a UFA with the 2.3 m cap space for a season.

Seems like an overpayment for Donato and Johansson, but the wild have no need for any of the pieces the Leafs are sending us here, other than maybe the pick but even the pick is for 2022...

I think Johnsson would be a direct upgrade over Donato or Greenway and who knows if your UFAs are resigning. Rosen might be a 7th D and Braco is kind of a wildcard. I still think he could be a player

Sure but we already have too many wings so it doesn't matter if he's an upgrade he'd still be a very expensive 3rd liner for us at best (our top 9 wingers are Fiala, Kaprizov, Parise, Kunin, Zuccarello, and one of Donato/Greenway/Foligno with Boldy coming soon). If we trade for him, either him or Greenway is then forced to the 4th line and they both need top 9 minutes to develop. Not to mention we're taking on more cap in this trade and we'll have to pay big money to Fiala and Kaprizov with Ek likely getting a long term deal as well. Not sure what you mean by our UFA's, since we don't have any UFA wingers (Galchenyuk played center for us mainly).

Like I said, it's an overpayment for the Leafs, but it doesn't fit our needs at all and puts us in a worse situation cap-wise.

Been seeing a few trades on ACGM lately that have teams acquiring Johansson, i'm sure based on his draft position. At the moment he looks like he will never make it to the NHL. I won't completely count him out since Fenton has a ability to see talent that nobody else can see. Just saying right now the pick looks like a bust.

I agree, I think he is more of a long shot

Left side D is solid. Right side D is still below NHL quality in this scenario.

The bottom line is that it doesn't matter what anyone has "heard". Until we see Lehtonen play in the NHL we just don't know what he is yet.

Aside from Kapanen... That bottom six is crap.

No thanks to this at all.

Pass.

give me cap space and I'll give you a decent right side and a better botton 6.

Neither of those players address any Flames needs. If we are sending this years first the package would have to include Kap somehow

No ****?

That doesn't change the fact that what you have here isn't nearly good enough.

Less than zero interest in any of those pieces heading Minnesota’s way. Every single one is a redundant, or completely useless piece for what the Wild need to do.
However, the pieces you are asking for in return are also redundant and (almost) useless for the same reasons so it’s not a terrible trade value-wise, it just doesn’t accomplish anything.

Has Donato even played center for Minnesota?
I see he's listed as one and buddy is using him here at 3C but has he actually played it with the Wild? Am guessing he would of been used on the wing in Boston.

What line did Galchenyuk center for the Wild?

I'm not a Flames fan but I could see all of those players being of use to them but there's so so sooo
many dmen available in free agency I'm sure they'll fill their needs on D going that route rather then trading for one.

Mostly 3C, which is where he was at the season pause. I think he had Foligno and Zuccarello as his wings, but it all sort of blurs together at this point. I was trying to remember who else the Wild played at center when they didn't have Galchenyuk and Rask was a healthy scratch.

We tried him there briefly but he belongs on the wing.

Galchenyuk centered the 3rd line, but we roll our middle 6 lines pretty evenly.

Was Donato the 4C to start the season? I was trying to remember, seemed like we went Staal > Koivu > Ek > ??? and I can't remember who the 4C was.

Thanks for the responses!

Do you two think the Wild sign Galchenyuk?
I still think there's a decent player in him even if it's just a good middle 6 option.

Not that the Jets would ever sign him but I wonder if he couldn't be an okay 2C, Ehlers and Laine have matured enough that they can carry an average center now or so it seems that way at least.

I think if Guerin can't find a way to trade for a legit top 6 C, he'll extend Galchenyuk and go Staal > Ek > Galch > Sturm down the middle next year. Galch speaks Russian, so he'd also be good to have around to help out Kaprizov as he adjusts to living in North America.

I can't remember to be honest, but I think Rask was. I know we tried Donato at center in the bottom 6 at some point but I may have been due to injury

Maybe, like I said I can't remember. I know we tried Donato at center at some point but whether it was the start of the season or after I'm not sure
