The rebuild continues by taking on Cap for future assets

Created by: MCfubar
Team: 2020-21 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 23, 2020
Published: Jul. 19, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Yzerman continues with the long rebuild process by acquiring as many assets as possible. Abdelkader doesn't make the team after camp and is waived. Not being claimed by anyone, he goes down to GR to mentor the kids and be close to his Muskegon home.

More moves are expected at the trade deadline with Helm, Filpula, Nemeth, Biega, Bowey, and Bernier as low cost vets on expiring contracts.

I know Tampa need cap but I don't think Johnson is that much of a cap dump. I think a fringe playoff/contender with some cap would actually pay a bit for him.

If Detroit takes Eriksson contract they should also target Demko instead of Baertschi. He could do a 1a- 1b tandem with Bernier. Especially since Vancouver wants to resign Markstrom.

I can't see Murray accepting that contract. PIT has cap issues, but if all their players are willing to take discounts...they'd be OK.

I expect Yzerman to trade down. Hell draft Askarov and get more picks to continue to build the DRW future.

Baertschi is a cap dump too, that's what the 3rd is for.

It will take more than Hirose and a 3rd to get Murray. Top 5 prospect and 2nd or 3rd, depending on the prospect. Hirose isnt it, he might replace the 3rd but not the main piece.

why do people start with these absurd premises.
"penguins cant resign both Murray and Jarry"

Yeah they can. They move Bjugstad and their cap issues are gone.
If they choose to move one of them, it's because they know there will be no deal with Seattle and they want to get assets or improve the team.
